i didn't like seeing Sweetney guard Yao last night... i was at the game & it seemed everytime Sweetney was on Yao, he'd get toasted w/that turn around jumper... he's simply too short to bother taller C's who can shoot... i like his physicality & ability to push guys out of the paint, but ideally we need someone w/a bit more length to bother the other C's shot attempts more.

I agree with you. This is the day and age where all these centers have learned to shoot the ball, as opposed to post up more. Sweetney played hard, and made Yao work for those shots, but I am still sure Yao was happy with Sweetney guarding him, b/c of the height advantage. He got a lot of his shots off, easy.

center. Yea, he's 6'8, but whenever he plays against bigger guys he pushes them away from the hoop. Heck, if 7'6 Yao wants to take fade away 12 footers by all means. Also Sweetney toasts bigger guys around the basket with the ball. We have seen him match up well against Curry, Yao and Deke. I saw him play Boozer very well with my own eyes. Its the quick 3/4 type players he has a hard time with.

Is he out center of the future? I'm not saying that at all, but it gets us a good way to look at him. Who do you want us throwing the ball into? Nazr or Sweetney? He doesnt get in foul trouble either. He had no problem scoring against Chander either.

100% of his offense comes from point blank and he's always at the line. If they arent coming out at him he wil take the 15 footer.

He gives us something we desperatly need right now and dont get from anyone on the team.
you had me until you said that he doesnt get in foul trouble - sweetney is the definition of foul trouble.

case... guarding quicker guys. Yes, Yao was able to easily shoot over Mike (as he does most guys) but I would much rather have opposing centers taking turnaround jumpers from 10-12 feet away than from 4 feet away.

This is just a short term venture... but it gives you a big that plays under the rim and with his back to the basket
