so..............we spend all this time and effort and expiring contracts to get this player that everyone on this board loved so much, and now he's not good enough to be our starter? i think the 2 is more than covered for now. even guys like steph or ariza can cover the 2 if need be. crawford is putting up 20, 4 and 3. thats not to bad, so he plays no D............again who does? crawford also needs to start taking it to the rim. that is why we got him, not to be our next shooter. god dam that drives me nuts every time i see it. he pulls some amazing crossover, the defender falls to the floor and jamal shoots.

so..............we need more gaurds on this team wich has no front court strength?

WE NEED HELP UP FRONT.

get a shot blocker and it imediatly makes everyone look 100% on defence.

and

we need someone to teach this team the concept of team defence. and to teach them to play 100% every night.

He's definitely good enough to be our starter; just not when he has turf toe! Duh!
Allan Houston is the one we're worried about using at extended minutes at SG

But I truthfully think a that healthy Houstons defense is no worse and may be better then Craws.

The one thing Crawford does well defensively is pick up steals- something allan will never be good at.

And folks that talk about Crawford getting posted by stronger SGs- correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen alot of that.

Back to the first post- I'd go with Kendall Gill

We don't need a SG?????? Are you serious??? the average SGs in this league are all better than ours. Houston may never regain his form, Penny is crying like a little b*tch, and Crawf is too inexperience and to light for that position.....Since Marburry is a liability on the defensive end, we need a SG that plays defense to complement. That is why Isiah should have pursued Larry Hughes...

giving up on coaches and players after 34 games is one way to go about things. but if you coached washington, then larry hughes would've been already on another team and stan van gudny would've been chilling with don chaney.

i want to see you bring up names of players isiah should go after now instead of saying we should've went after this guy or that.

kobe - 28.2
allen - 24.0
maggette - 22.2
redd - 21.7
hughes - 21.1
rip - 20.3
JAMAL - 19.6

hmmm, seems just a little above average to me...

Dude! forgive me I am misunderstanding you, but our SG position and so is our Center position needs to be upgraded. Crawf is still too raw at that position. He is very light at 195 and that will cost him as the season progresses. Do you know what it takes to penetrate like you have mentioned above? Marb does it because he is built like a linebacker, but Crawf can take as much pounded as Marb. Stop the madness and correct the real problems that we have. We need a sharp shooter at the two and Jimmy Jackson is that man.

We need more help that the PF and the SF position than we do at the SG.

Tip Hamilton: 6-7 and 193lbs
Allen Iverson: 6-0 and 165lbs
Larry Hughes: 6-4 and 184 lbs

jim jackson? sharpshooter? where do you come up with this crap?

he's a career .430 shooter and has been .420 and .417 the past two seasons.

do you just come up with a player, close your eyes, and just go with it no matter what?

if you think ariza should get minutes or even sweetney, then you better think crawford should also b/c he's just as young and still developing.

well, right now JJ is 10 times better than Allan Houston. I'm praying JC comes back soon and H2O takes another long vacation on IR before he totally kills us.

man, i don't believe this. soon as a player is out with an injury and their backup is inconsistent we need to shop for another 2. come on! crawford is the most athletic and energetic 2 we had since john starks. is he streaky? yes. but he is capable of dropping 50 pts. any given night. not many nba players or even all-stars can say that. does he have flaws in his game? sure he does. but he is learning and willing to learn. he will get better. ask philly if they would take hughes back. and now we are crying trade crawford? there are other positions that need to be upgraded like our frontcourt (5 or 4) and mybe our three if tt continues to stink it up and get injured. our backcourt is the last hting we should touch. we do need a ten day backup and kendall gill is the best of the crop. he had some good games last year with the bulls, i think ( he floats around so many teams i lose count).

Steals are not a good way to judge someones defense. Although many good defensive players get a lot of steals - so do a lot of bad defensive players. I'd have to say the Crawford fits into the latter. This team is horrible defensively and it is not be cause our guards are good or even average defensive players - they are BAD.

Oldfan, right now there isn't a player in the NBA that is worse (defensively) than Allan Houston... and there is no assurance his health status will ever improve noticably from this point on.

Not sure if you're addressing me or other posters, but I started this thread because I was talking about signing one of the guys mentioned in the article to a ten day contract to ease the bleeding while all of our shooting guards are currently injured. I wasn't talking about replacing Jamal in the long-term.

It took a while, but I am starting to laugh at some of the posts here!

Replace Crawford with Jimmy Jackson? Either you are JJ, his agent or a relative!
