Jan 11 The Magic traded guard Cuttino Mobley and big man Michael Bradley to the Kings on Monday in exchange for guard Doug Christie, and Magic general manager John Weisbrod admitted that Mobley's contract situation was a factor in the decision. Mobley was planning to opt out of his deal and become a free agent after this season. "There's a possibility that you could lose him," Weisbrod explained to the Orlando Sentinel. "You have to make a decision. You're talking about giving a six-, seven-year deal to a 30-year-old player. Here we get a player [Christie] who can help us immediately and help us defensively, taking on the other's team's best scorer."
Views: This is just a little more background for fantasy owners wondering why the Magic traded away their third-leading scorer and Steve Francis' long-time backcourt mate. Not only do the Magic add some defense with Christie, but the move should free up some more minutes for Hedo Turkoglu, who signed a sizable contract with the Magic over the summer.

Maybe they plan on giving more time to deshawn stevenson.
Or they wanna run with Jameer at the 1 and Francis at the 2 with christie at the 3. I don't know, but Orlando has lost a lot of games so I guess they felt a change was necassary.
