what big time player can we get when we have Houston's $20mil to use as an expiring contract? I was thinking Lebron but he'll only be making 7mil
Elton Brand. BRAND BRAND, ELTON BRAND. The best post player in the history of the game. He has post moves that will make LJ drool. I want Brand and Nene and/or Curry. We will be the best team in the NBA for years if we get Brand, Nene and/or Curry.

my guess is houston would yield us a very good player and 2/3 bad contracts. Think about it, with one guy you could slash half of your salary cap in one slap of fingers. That could be damn useful for a large number of franchise on a bad slope.

yeah definitely man! maybe looking ahead 3 years is too much. Heck Garnett or Dirk might have a fall out in minnesota

There have been plenty of reports saying Lebron can be or even will be traded. How much truth there is to it, no one knows. Especially after the Michigan loans guy just bought the Cavs but all we can do is speculate. I highly doubt we will get Lebron, ever.

no but how does trading for KG sound

I think Brand can be had this season or in the offense. for either TT/Penny/Sweetney/Ariza and company. I'm thinking about what we're gonna turn Houston's expiring contract into later down the road

How does this sound:
C-Nazr
PF-Garnett
SF-Brand
SG-Crawford
PG-Marbury

We will need Sweetney to become a double-double average allstar PF, Ariza to be an allstar-level All-NBA defensive team type SF, AND future unrestricted 1st round picks up the whazoo to include in that deal to get CLE to even remotely consider trading away Lebron James...it's not happening...he'll get the max contract extension no matter what else they need to do to make it happen.

Penny is shot. If he is ever traded its to take back a larger contract. His buyout is more likely!

Penny was shot when he got here. He was given a chance this year, which was nice of Isiah.

We can gut ourselves for Kg, and build around him. but it would start a new process for us.

Not too many teams have bad contracts on good players that we would want.

Lebron will get max money and will do just fine in Cleveland.

what if KG is sick of losing in Minn?

of course the key would be for the Knicks to get players who would make KG come

Next year they make it to the eastern conference finals after finally getting by NJ and rekindle the rivalry with Miami.

I don't know how Isiah does it, but the Knicks get Artest and the lineup looks like:

Marbs/Crawford
Crawford/Houston
Artest/Ariza
Brand/JYD
Nazr/Sweets

but I'm not as GM into it as the rest of you guys, but I see us turning the corner and I see us contending next year...I mean, who would have thought shaq would be THIS AWESOME...but otherwise, the east is still the weak *** east.

Contending for championship...unless shaq decides he'd rather play on broadway after his contract expires, i'm going say 3 to 5 years.
all kool aid all the time.

You are a smart guy and I respect you but you gotta stop about KG! Dont even waste your time thinking KG would consider NY.

I can see KG on the Knicks...but ofcourse, he would have to be close to retiring and signing for the MLE.

I guess the 5 players I could see playing for this team when we're a contender are Marbury, Crawford, Sweetney, Ariza, and JYD (if he is still young enough to bring that kind of energy).

I am going to be a bit more pessimistic than you and say that the Knicks will only be a legitimate contender when the bad contracts that Isiah absorbed in building this team finally get traded away or expire. I believe there WILL be a time when we will have a much smaller payroll, or maybe a payroll that gives huge $$$ to players who actually deserve it. So looking at the way the contracts play out and taking into consideration that we might absorb a few more bad contracts this year or next year if we rip off some other team for a good player, I would say give it around 5 years. By that time, many players on this current team will be aging, perhaps badly. Hopefully marbury will be up to the challenge at the age of 32. I honestly don't see anyone currently on the team on the contender team also except for maybe crawford.

My guess is 3 years if we build mainly around this roster......Marbury will be in his prime, and Craw will just be starting to use his experience...Sweetney and Ariza should be starting by this time, and Nazr will still be in his prime....
