i would take only the following guys over Wade if i had to get a guy to lead my team for the next 5-10 years:

1 - lebron
2 - KG
3 - duncan
4 - kobe
5 - amare
6 - dwight howard
7 - j. o'neal
8 - kirilenko
9 - dirk
10 - yao
Basically my list plus Dirk, Yao, and Dwight Howard.

Dirk was a tough call for me, but his play has gone down a little from 2 or 3 years ago (more so last year than this year). His chronic ankle problems were the main reason I wouldn't have picked him ahead of Wade. He's still young. No one knows how the ankles will hold up when he's older.

Yao's a player I would love to have, but he just doesn't have a killer instinct. Wade's already accomplished more in the playoffs in just one season. With his body, Yao should be a 28 and 14 player--not an ordinary 17/8 player.

Dwight Howard has played only a quarter of a season. If you're gonna include him, then I'd add about 15 other players too.

If you include Howard, then you have to include Okafor, b/c he's just a defensive beast. He'a averaging more than 11 boards a game and it's just his 1st season, and he's only 6'9"ish.

i didn't add Okafor because he's undersized for the C position...Howard is still growing & he's already a rebounding beast, & getting better every day in the post at the age of 19...i think he can easily be at the level of (if not surpass) Jermaine O'Neal & Amare Stoudamire w/in a couple years.

i picked kobe on my list though...imo, he's simply 1 of the top 3 players in the game today...even w/his ego issues & all the rest, you only come across players like that maybe once every generation.
