we don't need backcourt scoring. we need D up front. i hope IT stays focused on that and finds what we need. it's not carter.

the only reason i'd see to do that would be just to stockpile talent looking to make moves down the road. but i think we have a team that's a threat to make some noise this season with some tweaks up front. carter wouldn't be making a quick stop here like sheed in atlanta. turning penny or TT (or whatever) into vince would be a good upgrade, but unless we turn around move carter for what we really need we're just throwing money and prestige on the roster and hoping the tickets and jerseys will make it worth it.

all i know is there were alot of posters on this board who were trepidatious (is that a word?) about the idea of trading for Chris Webber at the beginning of the year, citing his knees & back & all the rest...meanwhile, he's having another terrific season & would have been a PERFECT addition to this team...many people had worries about trading for Grant Hill at the beginning of the year, & he's having a terrific season as well & is a shoe-in to be the comeback player of the year...

does this mean that Vince will automatically perform up to his past form when he comes back? Isiah has shown us all that he's not afraid to take chances in order to get this team to where he thinks it ought to be...just like i trusted in his judgement when he made the Van Horn/Doleac for TT/Nazr trade (even though i felt we were getting the inferior player in TT from the start), i think i would trust in his judgement if he decided to make this trade...in fact, i would support it...Vince Carter i feel would have a resurgence playing in MSG in front of the NY fans...he'd put butts in the seats & give this team the type of weapon they have never had since i've been a fan of this team when Ewing was just coming out of Georgetown & Bernard King was still a Knick.

As I've said before, Carter's playing to get out of Toronto. ANy concern I had with him was answered when we had the home and home with the Raptors recently. The guy would come to New York and be one of the top ten players in the league.

I doubt it'll happen. I still think the Blazers have the edge but, I hope we get him.

If Nazr is part of any deal right now.. unless its for a center, well that would be really dumb. We don't need another scorer. Defense and shot-blocking would fill our needs. I agree with others, TT and Houston are acceptable.. anything else would be uncivilized.

If Vince came to NY THE FANS WOULD BE FALLING OFF THEIR SOFAS AT HOME from seeing this guy get back to playing over the rim. VC IS A SHOW WAITING TO HIT BROADWAY.

He would definately silence his critics and prove he is still half man, half amazing in NYC!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Hey it's fine to crow about CWebb now but I'll still go on record as saying I don't want him. He'll break down again if he doesn't first break some more laws or break his teammates' balls or break down from pressure when an important game's on the line and he's needed to produce. No thanks.

id just like to 2nd that. I don't want anyone over 6'10" claiming to be a PF shooting 18 to 20 foot jumpers all game. Why trade for that when we have KT already? we need low post scoring and/or big man defense. nothing less than that.

Chris Webber is upset by the way he is being portrayed on The Apprentice. On last Thursday's show, the Kings star seemed to be backtracking out of a commitment to serve as MC of a charity basketball game that Jen is running as her final challenge. Webber says that he never agreed to appear at the tournament or on the show, and that the producers are simply using his name to drum up interest. Webber also says that his lawyers are considering legal action. (Hey, Jen's a lawyer, maybe Webber should hire her.) Webber finally claimed that the entire situation has shown him that "reality TV really isn't reality TV because that whole thing was staged." This just in: Reality TV not really reality!

dude, i've been calling for the Knicks to trade for C-Webb since before the summer...even w/the risks involved, i felt he still had game left in his tank...this isn't 20/20 hindsight on my part...

anyway, that's not the point i'm trying to make...all i'm saying is that you have to take a risk if you want to reap big benefits sometimes...Vince could lead to us getting a different bigtime player too...

it's not a clear cut choice either way, but i think the risk involved would be less than the possible returns you could get from this trade, which is why i would probably make the deal if i could...just my opinion.

no I wasn't accusing you of jumping on the bandwagon - I was trying to say you earned the right to crow now but I still wouldn't want Webber even with him playing well at the moment.

Re: Vince, I just don't see a good player left in him. He tried to make the transition in his game that other great leapers like Dr. J and Jordan did but he did it a decade earlier in his career and without his having accomplished much on a team level. He's now a jumpshooter and occasional driver. Is his body shot? Is his will to play shot? yYu're right, you gotta assess the risk and then come out on one side or the other of it. I may be absolutely wrong, but my assessment is he'll never recapture his old abilites or fervor and will command a superstar's salary and expect superstar deference without playing like one. Just my opinion and I wouldn't want to see the Knicks risk it.

fair enough...i just consider the fact that Vince is still a career 23 ppg player who at 28 years of age is far from being past his prime...seems like a good enough risk to take for me.

He's 28 but he might as well be 33 because his body has taken so much wear and tear and he's been declining already.
