Problem is the Knicks would have to figure out how to replace Mitch and do it low budget. Huk is not a suitable replacement. They could trade for Hartenstein who will be on the last year of his contract and OKC wants to get rid of him but his annual salary is more than what Mitch would get from us or on open market so we go over second apron anyway. Now Hartenstein would be on essentially a one year deal however and penalties for second apron don’t kick in until another year.

I do wonder what OKC will do this summer. iHart with the $28M team option. Chet and Jalen Williams salaries jump by $30m+ each from this year to next. Right now they are projected at $250M with two first round draft picks incoming.

Between iHart and Dort OKC has about 50 million in team options that don't have to be picked up until July 6, about two weeks after the draft. If OKC doesn't win it all again this season, they can offer a lot of different and attractive packages for Giannis.

It’s like you are reading my mind:) Knicks will find a way to keep Mitch. I can see him giving a discount to stay in NY. Love Deuce but he is to small and while Dadiet is still young, I’m not going over the apron for wait and see if he figures it out

Dadiet hasn't yet had a chance to play. He is just about 1 year older than the average age of a draft class candidate; he is 20 and will be 21 this summer. He hasn't proven himself either, but the Knicks could have moved him at anytime to get further under the second apron and they did not.

From my Gleague highlight watching eyes with some additional garbage time minutes, he is still changing. To me that means he is not nearly even done filling into his body and whatnot. As an example, it took Deuce until 23 to find his footing. Mitch took longer.

For me, it'll be a decision if the Knicks think he has long term potential to grow into - which is really the same for every kid - and they have not yet moved him for whatever reason.

Maybe he ends up sucking as much as Knox or Keels. We shall see. So far, it seems like the Knicks are in that wait and see spot.

I’m kind of on the opposite side of these decisions. They give no consideration to salary cap ‘benefits’ to going over the cap and the second apron vs the punitive costs. And the continutity measure to keeping your guys.

Absolutely pick up Hart’s option. Extend Mitch for 4 years 60m or some variant. Hold Deuce for another year. Match Diawara. Huk/McCuller are worth minor contracts. Deuce like contracts. And if we exceed the Apron next year, so be it. Take another swing with this team and this motion offense.

Accumulate more international assets so if you have to reload cheaply, you have options.

I’d highly consider making Dink a real offer also.

Let's look at this through the lens of Dadiet vs Shamet. We all love the homegrown talent but that 5 million salary slot for Pacome is going to be way more with repeater tax penalties. Knicks will be able to offer Shamet 22 on a two year deal via early bird rights. I'd much rather get rid of Dadiet so we can keep Landry.

Dadiet is 2.93 next year. I see mistakes. I see a pure shot. If I could lock him up on a Deuce-type contract, I would. Not sure if I am being too hopeful, but the kid is still young.

Shamet is a great low cost option. I’d love to keep him also. He’s being forced to play SF where he is a little undersized.

Would love to keep both. But I’d guess Shamet gets an offer above the early bird. Miami, for instance.

Dadiet is the quiet guy lurking in the background like Mikal Bridges. He may be better than some think.
