For all the hate Thibs got, Brown hasn't played a single young player significant minutes even when they have showed they deserve it.

Now I'm convinced we are 100% hiding MO a bit until we lock him up long term this summer, and truth be told at 20 he's probably not quite ready for this anyway and this is a great learning season for him.

But Kolek is ready and he changes the game for us, we don't win the cup without him. Really disappointing to see him basically out of the rotation now. Imagine when Deuce comes back? There's clearly not enough room for Deuce, Kolek, Jose and SHamet... so someone will have to go. Shamet's a sniper and invaluable two way player IMO. Jose's ballhandling is sorely needed. and Kolek's passing dimension is something we lack. Deuce would seem the odd man out next year IMO, especially since we probably can't afford to give him $10m+ on his next deal. Wouldn't be surprised to see him moved for a future pick at the deadline, assuming we have assurances that Shamet and Jose will be back.

Kolek is suddenly our young Brunson or Nash

I agree with what you say about Kolek. He should be playing. We played him and Deuce together, so why not let him get minutes next to Jose? There were times when the offense was sputtering and Kolek could have helped. With that stated, I’m not sure I can agree with Deuce being the odd man out. Next year I expect Diawara to play more of a point forward/center role for us on offense. Deuce would be perfect as the guard in the situation. I really like Deuce/ Shamet/ Mo/OG/KAT as a lineup that focuses on KAT in the pinch and low post areas with Mo as the main ball handler and facilitator.

Btw, I’m still p*ssed off that they didn’t take care of business this summer and lock him up long term. How could you watch him in the summer league and in practice, but not make sure we have him locked up for three years? Yes I know we have hit bird rights, but still… penny pinching might end up costing us a lot more in the future if someone offers him a poison pill contract when we need to sign Deuce, Mitch, Jose, and Shamet soon. I seriously hope Aller and co know what they’re doing because they certainly didn’t when it came to iHart.

You add another 25-30mpg player like DIawara next season and the minutes are even more sparse.

We might have the deepest team in the NBA when Deuce comes back and especially next season if MO really becomes a key piece.

KAT/Mitch
OG/MO
Hart
Mikal/Shamet/DEuce
Brunson/Jose/Kolek

that's a legit 11 deep. problem is 5 of those guys are small guards so maybe we need to balance things a bit by trading Deuce for a big.

We'll also have probably something like the 25th and 32nd picks in the draft, those will likely be kicked down the road.

crazy how we went from maybe the worst bench last season, to among the best this season. Kudos to the FO.

I'm not missing RJ, IQ, DDV or Grimes too much anymore these days.

same FO that bought in Diawa and the same that made sure we had space to do so. We created the opportunity THEN we get so see it.
Same process that bought in other guys and if they don't pan out, we move on.
Its quite possible Mo was not the revelation over the summer to warrant "Locking him up".

Im not afraid of losing him nor am I convinced he is the next big thing. We operated BEFORE we got him that we were a "Win Now" team. If so, Mo was not a priority.
If he is, then you get to big old "Told you so"......It happens. We miss on some, win on fewer. And once in a while FO does such a good job one slips betweent the cracks!
Never kbow how **** works unitl you can look backwards.

If they have to match an offer to Diawara they will.

As good as some of the bench players are, Diawara is going to be worth 5 of them put together so you keep him and maybe you do lose a Deuce or a Shamet or a Jose as a result.

Thems the the breaks, but what you don't do is let go of a player who is going to become an All-Star when he is so young and has years to go before he hits his prime.

Drafting players between 30 and 50 who become franchise cornerstones only happens once or twice per generation. Jokic is the poster child of this phenomenon. Most teams never have that kind of luck. You don't squander that kind of good fortune if you're a competent FO.
