For all the hate Thibs got, Brown hasn't played a single young player significant minutes even when they have showed they deserve it. I agree with what you say about Kolek. He should be playing. We played him and Deuce together, so why not let him get minutes next to Jose? There were times when the offense was sputtering and Kolek could have helped. With that stated, I’m not sure I can agree with Deuce being the odd man out. Next year I expect Diawara to play more of a point forward/center role for us on offense. Deuce would be perfect as the guard in the situation. I really like Deuce/ Shamet/ Mo/OG/KAT as a lineup that focuses on KAT in the pinch and low post areas with Mo as the main ball handler and facilitator. How could you watch him in the summer league and in practice, but not make sure we have him locked up for three years? Yes I know we have hit bird rights, but still… penny pinching might end up costing us a lot more in the future if someone offers him a poison pill contract when we need to sign Deuce, Mitch, Jose, and Shamet soon. I seriously hope Aller and co know what they’re doing because they certainly didn’t when it came to iHart. I bleed orange and blue for life.

You add another 25-30mpg player like DIawara next season and the minutes are even more sparse. We might have the deepest team in the NBA when Deuce comes back and especially next season if MO really becomes a key piece. KAT/Mitch that's a legit 11 deep. problem is 5 of those guys are small guards so maybe we need to balance things a bit by trading Deuce for a big. We'll also have probably something like the 25th and 32nd picks in the draft, those will likely be kicked down the road. |

crazy how we went from maybe the worst bench last season, to among the best this season. Kudos to the FO.

If they have to match an offer to Diawara they will. As good as some of the bench players are, Diawara is going to be worth 5 of them put together so you keep him and maybe you do lose a Deuce or a Shamet or a Jose as a result. Thems the the breaks, but what you don't do is let go of a player who is going to become an All-Star when he is so young and has years to go before he hits his prime. Drafting players between 30 and 50 who become franchise cornerstones only happens once or twice per generation. Jokic is the poster child of this phenomenon. Most teams never have that kind of luck. You don't squander that kind of good fortune if you're a competent FO. |
