Although I did enjoy watching Clarkson from afar, I don't feel he's the answer as the second ball handler on the team. I've always saw him as point-scorer more than a pass first PG/game manager. Part of me would have liked to have seen the Knicks make a harder run at Smart but I know money and promise of playing time was a road block.

I don't know crap about Yabusele but I notice the fan base is excited about it. To me, he's signing only makes sense if he's being considered to be the starting 4. I always felt this team would be at its max potential with OG at the 3 and Mikal at the 2 and Hart coming off the bench.

I would be intrigued with Yabusele at the 4 in the starting lineup. We would have a true 5 out on offense with size at all position except PG. The defense would hurt a little but Gershon is not afraid of contact and is trying. Rebounding would be a strength again as well. No more bigs hiding on hart and the wing on KAT.
Bridges and OG on the wings will have a lot of work but this is their natural positions. Kat would have to buy in on the defensive end though. The offense could be a juggernaut.

Simmons is more cover for the type of defense OG provides and he brings point guard ball handling and passing off the bench. For a veteran minimum he does a lot of things for a team provided he actually plays and wants to play. He is as much mental as physical, but I can see why buying low on a piece like him with a championship type roster is an attractive idea.

yup - imagine you need a stop, you can go with a lineup of McBride, Bridges, OG, Simmons, Mitch

Vin captured Dolans soft spot as a fellow alcoholic and help his rehab. Do you suspect Simmons has substance abuse issues?
No doubt former allstars with issues come with risks but we talking low cost with Simmons.
I would not have an expectation Simmons returns to his former high level but at 6-10 and can run the PT for say 15 minutes a night and still has his defensive chops could make a contribution.

I don't particularly expect Simmons to have substance abuse issues. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he has other issues. But these "reclamation" projects rarely bear fruit.

For sure! My take is the kid was fragile and entitled, then he got caught in the "Kardashian succubus" and lost his soul. Remember Kris Humpphries? Lamar Odom, and Tristin Thompson? Only one to go basically unscathed was Booker who was with Kendal Jenner.

Can't say its a complete strategy nor addresses Utah's needs or what they would do with Mitch given their aspirations and timeline. I put little probabilty on this but its August and I suspect time for FO's to go on vacations so little to chew on.
