I won't tell you we might ever win a chip with this group but I sense some are quite fond of the past over valuing DDV and focused on all KAT is not instead of what he actually bought to the team.

For me it was that last year's playoff team embodied the grit, hustle and toughness that many of us fans loved (as it was reminded us of the 90s style). We have a defensive minded coach with 2 outstanding offensive players that are also defensively challenged. We may not have been able to even pass Boston but if we were injury free last year I would have preferred taking out chances with that team. I was proud of last year's team and this year felt indifferent despite the higher ceiling and more collected talent. You can be patient with chemistry that needs to form... but I can tell you 100% KAT doesn't have the fire/desire to be an excellent and consistent defensive player. He can play solid defense but to stay locked in it's a mindset that he simply does not have. The only solution is to change the defensive scheme, change the coach, play KAT as a 6th man (crazy) or move him and acquire a big that can offer enough offense without hurthing you defensively. KAT is the weak link and it's too much pressure on OG, Bridges, Hart and Mitch to guard their guys effectively and compsensate for him and Brunson. 3 years later with the same approach and roster will yield similar results.

Your not wrong. We did go to ECF's so there is that. Last year no doubt the team took indy to 7 games on grit and DDV was like last man standing after Randle, Mitch, OG and Jalen were cooked. very Thibian.

3 years out same results? I doubt that. But I can't back it up. I expect the one constant is change but to what degree.

Im in the Bobby Marks thinking and have been for some time. We got a really good core. Fix things, not replace.
Its easy to type change for improvement.
Sure, Jones for Mitch is easy. Both players get hurt. But where are the minutes and from who?
I like Huk but what does his medical chart look like. If good, he needs in the rotation. I like Kessler but I don't know the cost. Utah won 17 games so there is not a lot to look at. Kat for Kessler and Markkenan would be intriguing but Leon that cold? Its a silly thing to type, but it solves two issues. Not advocating it. Just spitballing.
Josh had jumpers knee and his shot suffered. We forget that? If he needs less minutes then his shooting could improve. He not our darling anymore and we want him exiled? Fans are cold!

Kopek needs time with a mentor I read but who the **** knows how to improve these kids. He is 24, and how close is he? He got to the NBA, he don't need an mentor, he needs to do his job better. A new assistant coach might mess him up actually. He a 2nd rounder and he has one more season. Dadiet has the stroke, How close is he? He gets two seasons more. He actually got a look early.

Trade Mitch. easy to type. What is his real value? Love the kid but I think best might be bring him back, play him, then let him walk if we don't get a good value like Herb Jones. He Breaks down again, we say good bye. If he can help us really contend then he is a freaking bargain. Good teams let players walk all the time. Can't keep everyone.

All in all I think small moves can make a difference and chemistry can get better and thus can the defense. Im not trading Mikal, He is what he was in PHX but can carry the team in stretches. He is not a Thibian bruiser or a

bottom line, smooth the corners and keep massaging without major moves would be my guess.

Agree fans are finicky and impatient. Often there myself.
Feel core is as best as can be proven.
Switching main pieces can always find an argument but fact is that most suggestions have no empirical proof.
Feel Huk and Kolek are definitely in plans and need more time to develop before getting minutes than what fans want.
Many here wanted Frank, Baker, Deuce to be handed starting positions despite what the coaches that see them every day thought.
If you asked me before season, I said keep Randle, Divo and give it another go with healthy squad.
Was for small changes and hated KAT and Bridges trade.
A year later, I am for doing the same. Which is give it another go with small additions.
Feel Tyis Jones, and others mentioned above can be good additions at an affordable price.

Don’t want to trade Mitch or Deuce but that feeling changes quickly depending on package that comes back. Of course, most favor players they have not seen on the regular than those they do.

As thread topic goes, think I feel good about results this year. Not the way we ended but that we are a bit better than last. Never expected a chip this year but feel if we keep taking steps forward, we may get there before the next decade.

Some of the broadcasters were blaming KAT for bad three point defense in Boston and Indiana series.
Guess easy to pick on easy target. Fact is, and announcers know this, it all depends on scheme implemented. Meaning whether you are assigned to drop or go over picks.

My eye test when watching him in Minny was that he was soft. Rarely drove hard to basket and was allergic to contact. This was not the case this year. And mostly in Playoffs.
