I still remember the Blackman trade. Literally no one was against it seemed like such a no brainer a 1995 pick for a very good shooting guard

For some reason I read that as Renaldo Balkman

Kat is not someone that looks like he's going to age well - could his D get worse (maybe)?

We have an issue with JB/KAT combo because both are un-athletic and both are POOR defenders.

Yes KD is a diva and a 36 (going on 37) diva BUT he's an ALL TIME diva --- maybe the most effortless scorer in history.

The upside of a KD trade where we extend him 2 years --- we get out of long-term commit to Kat.

The more I watch Kat the bloom of his early season has started to wilt. The shot selection if awful, the drives to nowhere are awful, the rim protection awful and the D all-world awful. I didn't mention bad fouls, decision making and his sloth like trots up and down the court.

Brunson
Mikal
KD
OG
Mitch (maybe another starting center via the tax payer MLE or trade)

That's a legit 5 with switchability, shooting and no empty vessel defending the rim. Plus we get Hart the hell out of the starting line-up where he is killing us.

I don't know - I like Kat but his game is worrisome and KD is an all timer in my book.

You know how else we can get out of KAT's long term contract? Trade him for DDV and Randle. BOOM.

Getting Donte back while keeping JB/Hart/Mikal around would be beautiful BUT I'm always a no on Randle. Though I have to admit if Kat keeps up with the dumb decisions and awful D Julius starts to look less like Hillary Clinton and more like Margo Robbie.

Don’t even need to be KD.

I’m wondering what Thibs and Leon both think of KATs defense and if it’s long term winnable.

Offense just has to be devestating enough, and that’s definitely a possibility with Brunson and KAT.

Assuming we are stuck with JB/Kat I think the major issue real time is Josh Hart. If Josh takes his D up 3 levels in the playoffs I can live with some of his poor offense BUT if he D continues to suck and his bad TOs stay high he's going to stick out like a big sore thumb.

We’re talking about a two year window with Durant. He has Finals experience, can make the big shot. If there is a deal that makes us a contender, I hope the FO explores it. If Durant really was interested in the Knicks, shows how far we’ve come.

Durant was a p ssy with the nets because he’s not psychologically built for NY. He imploded under scrutiny he’s played in small to medium size western conference markets were there’s very little media scrutiny his entire career except for a couple years with the nets

And the nets get maybe 20% the media scrutiny the Knicks do

Not built for NY?

KD carried Nets against Bucks with no Kyrie (after game 4) and Harden hobbled with a hammy injury.

Series tied 2-2 and KD goes for 49, 17 and 10 to win game 5.

Follows that up with 32 and 11 in game 6 and 48, 9 and 6 in game 7 loss.

Come on man - KD is built for anywhere - he is an ALL TIME GREAT.

The transformation from Hillary Clinton to Margo Robbie is the most Happy Hour to 4am drinking transformation we are all experienced with at some point in life. I think

Durant is one of the few difference makers we can get IMO. We likely cannot match a Giannis package. You have to consider getting KD as a deadly 3rd option for the next 2-3 years.

Yeah that’s why they lost that series and he got his coach fired, replaced him with an amateur and then demanded a trade out of Brooklyn

I had my doubts on him handling NY BEFORE he signed with the nets. Never wanted him on the Knicks. He is always the common thread since he left OKC. GS-Drama. Brooklyn-Drama. PHX-Drama.

The drama was him leaving OKC. Could GS have resigned him and stayed competitive? His issues with Dray? Not like Dray was innocent there. The BKN thing? Much of it was on Kyrie and Harden. He resigned with Nets. He asked out given the teams roster was out of balance and Simmons proved awful.

What is Durant? An *******? A bit on the spectrum? His issues with social media did not endear him to his detractors but nothing awful. Seems like a very intense human who is very intense about basketball.

Talent wise he is can still put up points but Id pass on this starphuch concept not because he told the truth, but the money won't work. Perhaps next year at a 15mil salary to chase a ring with us as a role player.
Fact was Knicks were not "cool". Mills was running the team and I think Hornachek was coach after seemingly changing them each year prior. We were very unstable as a franchise. We are cool now but that took time to establish.

If you recall, KD hit the series winner in that series vs MIL (who went on to win the title) but his tippy toe was on the line so it was a 2 instead of a 3. KD can handle any market in terms of being a gamer. He's a little bit of a diva like most players are. But him and Brunson would make the most elite crunch time scoring duo in the league by far.

You do realize the nets never got past the second round with the superfriends? That’s a huge underachievement by everyone including Durant

If Durant is so great why are the suns below .500?

Should the Knicks pursue Durant in the Offseason?
