![]() For me I'm not overly optimistic because this season's play style doesn't cater to our coach and core players strengths of defense, grit and toughness. We grinded last season and wore better players/teams down. Now we are much improved offensively but at too much of a cost to our overall team defense. It's not really surprising as we knew KAT was very good offensively but so so at rim protection before the trade. Minn knew this and eventually put Gobert next to him to offset his limitations (and they were more successful when they did this).
Thibs runs a style that seems to need higher quality rim protection to work...and we simply have average rim protection so we then have to shoot "on fire" from three to beat these same teams we could previously beat 90% with our defense. Even IHart offered enough rim protection and was much better at hustling/switching so that offset his limited ability to shoot from outside consistently. Plus he had a nice floater and also set better picks for Brunson. So even when we get Mitch back we are looking at either great offense (w/much less defense) or great defense with non-existant offense unless we play them together to shore off each's deficiencies. I don't miss Randle but we played better overall with Mitch/IHart next to Randle or OG. So think when Mitch is healthy we have little choice or we will continue to look great some nights and piss poor others. The irony of this is Minn is also struggling with the adjustment and possibly feel like they got fleeced in the trade. |

I haven’t seen stats on it, but we seem to struggle when opposing teams can put a 7’ wingspan on Brunson AND OG has a bad shooting night. OG can have an ok shooting night and we play to the final 2 mins. Dyson is only 6’11 but the theory kind of held. When they pull a 7’ wingspan off OG, he has to make them pay. But, I wouldn’t doubt that dudes legs are getting tired. That’s kind of why I thought another 3&D 7’ wingspan sub would help. Let OG get that lift in his legs. I don’t doubt his heart or his skill, just gotta make sure his legs are there. Brunson’s bad games are still good, comparatively. Hart is playing amazing. Speaking Anthrometrically only, shifting Bridges to SG and OG to SF and adding a third 3&D with 7’ wingspan to that lineup might make this team unstoppable. I don’t really see a path to add that size this season though. So, I’d settle for getting OG some extra DripDrop. You know I gonna spin wit it

I was advocating for putting Sims in the starting line up, so you could shift OG to SF and have Bridges off the bench. I don’t think we should put our best 5 players into the starting line up and I think Thibs is over playing guys. |

Agree with what you are saying in a lot of the above. Brunson has played well, same with KAT. Offensively. Not sure about the whole team defense thing, and it could be the whole lineup is not yet in sync on that side of the ball. If Josh were 6'9, I think the Knicks would be perfect cause they need more interior beef. Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

![]() The more I think about it, because we are not super athletic and have players playing out of their natural position, we really need a rim protector to anchor the defense.
Also I don’t know if the rumor Shams started about Mitch not being ready to play until Feb is true. I haven’t seen it reported anywhere that isn’t using Sham as their source. |

Compared with Woj, I have not like paying attention to what Shams is doing at ESPN for whatever reason. He is like making Emergency Announcements when LeBron's son is playing a Gleague game and I had to unfollow him. Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

![]() Game Theory also does a good breaking down the team's defensive ineptness.
Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right.
