The report wasn#t that he was complaining, just that he wasn;t happy he was going back to the bench and on a more limited playing time after the Bridges trade, which is nothing wrong. He had a career year so of course he should expect an expanded role, not the opposite.
So basically we traded 5 FRP for someone who is marginally better than DDV (maybe) which then undermined his value by making him "unhappy" as a bench player and then traded him with Randle for a wash trade (and I'm trying to be generous). So what did this 5 FRPs net us? Not as much as I'd have thought.
You listed off a bunch of wildly inaccurate things and then made a conclusion based on those? That;s not a track record towards anything, just prezel'ing.

I don;t think there is one sane person in the NBA who would ever come close to thinking Mikal is only marginally better than DDV, even when you put maybe in parentheses.

Bump.
No sane person, eh martin?

What about tonight’s game changed anything about that? I get the shooting concerns but he literally worked them out same game. Yes Donte is an elite shooter, but mikal is in a different category all around.

Do you mean Mikal fixed his shooting when the game was over, and the garbage was already a quarter in?

Correct.

What other 1-game comparison insights do you have for us?

So do you not think a career 38% 3pt shooter was going to figure it out if it was a tighter game? Seems like a pretty ridiculous assumption. In case you don’t think he’s capable in higher pressure situations, he’s also a 38% 3pt shooter in the playoffs. What am I missing? Did the preseason matter that much to you?

I am of this opinion too. Knicks will at least try.

I remember Novak's numbers taking a dive after he got traded from NY. Sometimes a team, a place. can bring the best out of a player's game.

As I said in the gamethread, Im guessing DDV's game is going to start picking up after playing, and getting blown out by the Knicks. No choice but to look forward.

Minny to salary dump DDV to NY? Do we get a pick to eat his salary? [;-)]

Nalod is right, can't happen until this summer cause of the 1 year season trade limitation thing.

I'm trying to think of a scenario where the Knicks would be up for getting Donte back. Realistically, right now, the only salary the matches Donte is Mitch. Minny won't want Mitch and I've always thought that NOP would take him in the right scenario, cause as good as Yves Missi is, he is more than a couple of years away from being a full time starter on a good team.

NOP got a lot of figuring out to do between now and Feb and then summer. Do they keep Zion? Cause he has a weight clause thingy that can terminate his contract. That's a ginormous trigger to pull but one they might want to? I have no clue how those decisions are made, and it would totally be a cut your loses ownership type thing. Not too many teams would trade FOR Zion at this point? Dont' know.

They got McCollum who is way past his playing usefulness but maybe a stabilizing leader in lockerroom?

They got Brandon Ingram to deal with. Is there a world, somehow, where NOP swap Randle for Ingram? Doesn't make too much sense when Zion is your PF but he rarely plays anyway.

That's the triangle - Minny, NOP, Knicks - and the Knicks seem to navigate those things OK.

Leon and team would have to be convinced that some combo of KAT, Huk, James Nnaji, and Precious (and vet min whatnot) are AOK at the bigs positions long term to give up on Mitch with the added benefit of bringing Donte magic off the bench.

Let's put the Zion decision aside. A team that features Randle would need defenders and spacers around him to make him useful. Mitch, Randle, Trey Murphy, Herb, Dejounte Murray. Is that a sensible lineup? I don't know. OR Mitch, Ingram, Trey Murphy, Herb, Dejounte Murray.

Just spitballing.

That Zion thing is tough. Fear of regret is why they might be keeping him. On the other hand he holds them back.
few years ago this was I thought the "it" team. They had picks, players, Yoot, and could make about any trade(s) to Make it work.

Good for him - they didnt make the connection that he started to play better after getting their clocks cleaned by the Knicks though. Probably had something to do with it.

Maybe you guys remember, but I said three years ago, DDV would be a knick, then traded away, and then he'd figure it out about the first of the year!!!
So I was two days off, Oh well!!!
