Payne, Deuce, Hart, Randle, Precious. That second unit flattens you with bruisers. They all don’t to get minutes, plug and play depending on first unit flow and opponent.

I mean, that’s solid and spacious and rambunctious for downhill kinda guys with room to bump and grind and bruise just the way she likes it.

I didn’t consider this a 1st off the bench comment. There isn’t enough context to read too much into it. But I took it to mean he would play the role requested of him with this personnel. For me, I am looking at this like the Death Lineup for GSW and Randle gets to reprise the role of Dray. I would see him as the post player in a motion offense. The screen assist guy with both a PnR and a PnP. And a corner guy in a 5 out.

I think the excitement is real here.

This is the second time Begley mentioned it. First time was last month in a fan Q&A, which I cannot find the original source but plenty of references to it from mid August chatter on socials if you search.

In a new fan Q&A column Begley was asked if Randle would be open to becoming the second unit center next season. A case could be made that the best possible starting lineup next season would see Mitchell Robinson at center. OG Anunoby at power forward, Josh Hart as the swingman, Mikal Bridges as the off-guard, and Jalen Brunson at point.

Back to Shamet, its a great depth signing. He has one high level NBA skill, which happens to be the most valued skill these days. Not saying we're gonna trade Deuce, but IMO the Knicks know Deuce has a ton of trade value and if the right deal comes along and the Knicks have the right need, there is the possibility of depth behind him.

You nailed it for me. Deuce is like their ace in the hole player.

Keep him and he could be wildly good and overlap a lot of other guys who do pretty much the same thing. And he has a TON of trade value when you need it.

DDV and Hart's trade value is also very high right now. Just saying, if you take a big swing it's going to hurt a little. We are on a precipice where trades are going to be VERY difficult to execute and make the $$$ work

I mean, I am pretty sure the JB/DDV/JH/MB core is what this team is building around - that Nova chemistry. You have OG, JR and MR as other higher salary pieces to maneuver with. I don't see them trading either of DDV or JH. I don't see them trading OG either. I could see them moving any of JR, MR, Deuce, Achiuwa if the right trade came along. But no need to force it.

This is what I would do if they were available after December 15.

Deuce for Walker Kessler
Achiuwa for Nick Walker
JR for JJJ
MR for Herb Jones.

I agree, very good concepts. Not sure about trade values been in line.
I don't see a need for Herb Jones and with Brandon Ingram not being a high trade asset given his salary demands Jones whose range has improved might be in line to for a bigger role going forward.

His last two seasons have not ended well and objectively knicks are doing the right thing. "Objectively" is not easy for a fan to conjure. Naturally we all assume he is devoted to Knicks and the return to CAA was to a good indicator but here we are. He has a good year his price goes up. If not, he opts in and gives it another try or is traded.

Im not in love with Bridges at the two and his inclusion makes for a bit unorthodox roster given our situation at the 5 and how stacked we are at the other 4 positions.

Why would you have an issue with Bridges lining up at the 2? He guards 1-4. OG guards 2-5. The term SG and SF are virtually meaningless where a player has the footspeed and wingspan to guard 4 positions. Even less when they have two.

On offense, the opposing team has to put their 3rd or 4th best defender on him. Last year, Bridges had to work of their best defender. Does Philly put Maxey on Brunson or Bridges? They probably need to put Oubre on Bridges due to wingspan meaning that Brunson gets the easier defender. Celts put White on Brunson. Brown on Bridges. Tatum on OG. Holiday on Randle. Zinger on Robinson. Both Randle and Robinson have the advantage on the block IMO. I don't think Holiday can bang with Randle. I don't think KP bodies well against Robinson, he's better from 27 feet out.

My point is that having OG and Bridges on the court at the same time is an insane advantage.

OG and Mikal are going to make Thibs insane in the membrane.
