Started watching games with my Pops when Michael Ray Richardson was the man. Sparrow, Louis Orr and then Bernard shortly after cemented my love for the Knicks. Johnny Newman became one of my favorites along with Pat, Gerald and Pitino. X-Man my favorite in the early 90s when NBC ruled the tv weekends!

Anyone recall the broadcasting teams on TV and radio back in those days ?

The physicality of the 90’s Knicks, and the banter between Marv and Johnny Hoops… man I was hooked!

Here’s a long list of broadcasters. Seems like Bill Daughtry should be in there too.

Thanks Todd, my favorite was Butch Beard. He was only there one season so that was the season I became a fan.

Meant to be completely harmless. I’m actually quite happy for you! Maybe we’ll all know that feeling less than a year from now.

Right, by all standards those brain cells should have been almost fully upgraded by just the right balance of 50 years worth of whiskey and hookers and good times memories?

Prior to this I always skipped the channel (channel 9?) whenever I saw basketball was on.

I thought it was a couple of years earlier, but I remember seeing Ewing, Oak, X-Man, Rodman, and thinking… “holy **** how have I never watched this?!?”

‘91-‘92 was when I became a fan too. I specifically remember that series it was the end of the Isiah Bad Boy Pistons. Next series was world war 3 aka Knicks/Bulls 1992. One of my biggest regrets ever in life was not seeing game 1 live I was ten years old and went to a dinner at the Ground Round in Hackensack, NJ instead. I remember hearing a guy at the bar screaming Ewing’s name

That's a heavy regret to carry all those years!
You were but 10 years old. Did you give up a ticket and "instead went to dinner at the ground round in Hackensack?" Was this even a reality?

I became a knicks fan (Richie Guerin, Kenny Sears) around 1958 when I was going to PS14. In 1959 we won a city title that's when some of the coaches from Saint Anthony's tried to recruit me but I chose to go to Lincoln High in Jersey City and I played the point and shooting guard. We had a big game one night and I had to choose between playing basketball or singing with my singing group at an armature contest at the theater and guess which one I choose.

1994 Finals vs Houston did it to me!!!
I remember staying up all night and watching the games here in Germany 3-5h at night, then going to school 3 hours later!
Well I had my priorities set!!!

But watching those crazy games and individual stories and matchups was amazing... Ewing vs Olajowon, Starks vs Mad Max, Oak vs Thorpe... those were EPIC games!!!
Ever since I was a Knick for live!!!
