McConnell killed us and Haliburton didn't. I think Haliburton's back injury + his hamstring troubles have basically made it so he's too tentative to attack the paint/basket. He took like one floater last game and it came up way short. Its not just last game, he played like this in the Milwaukee series (he did hit a game winning floater, but he mostly shot 3s and he played like this for most of post all-star break. I'm not saying he isn't dangerous- he's a phenomenal passer and can still get hot from 3, but compared to McConnell its a major difference. I just question whether he can or is willing to do what is needed to attack our defense.
McConnell penetrated and attacked the paint all game long and we had no answer for him. Even McBride who is a great one on one defender against PGs couldn't keep him in front. I listened to a podcast yesterday that suggested that we try OG on McConnell, especially when Pascal is out or can be guarded by Achiuwa. I'm willing to give that a shot. If McConnell didn't have so much success, we might won that game going away.
The other big X-Factor was Isiah Jackson who was their version of Josh Hart. Game changing energy and hustle and a load finishing. We don't really have an answer for a guy like that when our starters are playing 40-48 and he's coming in for a couple of bursts where is work rate is hard to match.
