Now that OGA is here, I have achieved my dream of getting OGA. For better or worse, he is ours and no longer a daydream. Now, I have to move on to other players to maintain my ever-present sense of foreboding and need to continually "improve" the roster.
As such, I present my next round of daydream worthy players. Please note that my list has some rather arbitrary but important rules.
1) Player must be 28 years old or younger. So, any oldies are not gonna catch my eye.
2) Player should have a relatively high TS% (55% or higher on around 20% usage or higher). They gotta know how to score efficiently with volume. Willing to give up usage for higher TS% (See OG Anunoby).
3) Player should have good "biometrics" meaning good height and wingspan. This means positional size, but I am willing to replace "height" with "wingspan" in this calculation and actually prefer wingspan to height.
4) Player must play both ends of the court or have a reasonable expectation that his performance on one end of the court will improve with a move to NY (Think OG getting better offensively with a few more FGA).
5) Player has to be "likeable" in the subjective sense. So, no wife beaters (Sorry, Miles) or headcases (Sorry, Simmons).
6) Cool nicknames are bonus points (I see you Spida and Block Panther)
7) Cannot be a current or former Knick (Sorry Jerami Grant, you are old and used)
8) Cannot be a top 20 player already. Too expensive. I have to be able to come up with a fantasy in which they are obtainable without destroying the Knicks team entirely. (Sorry Donut Doncic, but we cannot afford to dream of you in Blue and Orange, its just not real enough).
9) Positional Need for the Knicks is important, have to believe that the new heart-throb is better than what we already have.
10) Bonus points for Hustle Stats. I fricking love hustle stats. Will accept other weaknesses for more hustle. Sometimes other stats are a product of the system and not the player. Hustle is all player. (see Tari Eason)
