3 players who seem like they might be available and are far from perfect, but are still younger than 30. We can go on about why none of them help much, but just for the heck of it, which one would you prefer for the Knicks if you had to pick one, and assuming the cost is within the same range? It’s going to be an interesting summer and these names will be thrown around a lot. All multi-time allstars who are still in their primes years and won’t cost the future of the team from an asset standpoint.

When a high level free agent all but tells you he wants to be on your team, even if it is still maybe a year or so out, you listen and plan.

IF, and this is a big if, the Knicks start to look to build a team that could offer a defensive balance to a backcourt like Brunson with Donovan (ie, lots of defense and/or spacing at the 3, 4, 5), then that'll be a thing.

do we really want Donovan "too small" at SG after his poor playoff performance several years in a row?

Yeah none of the above I know is a common response. Just wanted to see who people picked if they had to pick one.

If you can get him as an UFA ala Brunson or in a deal that favors the Knicks cause there would be a Mitchell threat to leave Cleveland ala Brunson'ing Dallas, then the answer is YES.

If you can get talent at below normal cost, you do it.

Next 4 years: $47M, $50M, $54M, $57M.

Also, last 4 years played: 57 games, 60 games, 40 games, 50 games. Wizards last 5 years (yeah yeah Beal not responsible for all of it): 32 wins, 25 wins, 34 wins, 35 wins, 35 wins.

Randle is a ****ing BEAST compared to someone like Beal. Contract, team wins, durability.

If I can get Beal and add him to the core, I'd be ecstatic getting 50+ regular season games out of him. I'd hope a reduced role would keep him in more games and fresh for the play offs.

Post acquiring Hart, this team was really good. We came up short because of an ankle and a lack of scoring punch.

Obi, Rose, Fournier should be all it should take, maybe a rando draft pick.

The money is awful. In fact, for taking this contract on, I should be getting something more from the wizards, like a draft or some young talent.

You definitely mess up your future flexibility alot.

But, if you had had Beal at the beginning of our play off run, minus Obi, Rose & Fournier, are we playing Denver instead of Maimi?

I don't know. How much has Beal impacted winning since he's been the main guy in DC? You could argue that the Wiz was equal to us from a talent standpoint this season and they still manage to underachieve. I think Beal is an empty stats player and his fit with Brunson would go as well as it did with Wall. I'd pass.

This is a big point.

really? Cause Denver has how many titles? If anything Denver is a example of patience and internal development.

Knicks found the hardest piece to get, and we really only KNOW we have it because we fought and went to the playoffs. Jalen Brunson is a finisher. End of story. He's the guy. Obviously we need one more, and that's where the patience comes in. These $40mm a year #s guys are exactly what to avoid. KAT *might* be an upgrade on the court over Randle, but at his price point? Costly to acquire AMD makes $40-$50mm

To its simple. Stick with this crew. Keep coaching them up. IQ/Grimes/RJ are all ascending player until they are not. RJ is the most frustrating but he's only 22 so we have 3 more decades.

Resign Hart. Let Rose walk. Keep Fournier for a fire sale. Bring in Rokus to challenge McBride and Sims for the 10th spot.

starting 5
Brunson/Grimes/RJ/Randle/Mitch

off the bench
IQ/Hart/Obi/IHart

next up
McBride/Rokas/Sims

Bulls are going to ask too much and they are within the conference. Plus we don’t exactly have the greatest history of doing deals with the bulls

I feel like this is the year to get an overpaid disgruntled star for cheap.

Kat
Lavine
Zion
Beal
D.Mitchell

And we have the perfect FO to pull a robbery off.

I can see Lavine or Beal fitting in like a glove.

Kat and Zion are different. Are we swapping out Randle? Or will Randle play with Kat or Zion? Just seems a little tricky to me. But at SG, Grimes will have to take a back seat to Beal or Lavine, so it's an easy fit.

Source? What makes you think LaVine is going to be more expensive? The Bulls were rumored to want out of his deal seemingly immediately after he signed it

Did not vote. These $50-$60M annual salaries will pretty much limit a team's roster outlook under the new CBA unless the guy is an absolute A Level stud. In a few years teams who don't win be forced to trade some of these guys very cheaply.

Lazy. When and what was the last trade knicks did with Bulls?
I see it 7 years ago, when we traded for Derrick Rose first time. Was a one year thing and cost us RoLopez as primary salary.
Before then? You Thinking Eddy Curry? You do realize that was 18 years ago.
What is a reasonable price as your metric to gauge Lavines trade value.

The rose trade sucked. He was disinterested when he got here, played no defense, skipped regular season games going literally AWOL and it led to the Noah contract which also sucked. The Curry trade was a disaster that set this organization back several years.

But I guess that’s a lazy opinion. Staying obvious facts that are proven by every known metric. Maybe I should write a 57 paragraph essay like you about why trading half the roster plus picks for LaVine is such a great idea

The wolves just got robbed in the Gobert deal they will be asking for several King’s ransoms for KAT.

Rumor: New York Knicks Trading For Karl Anthony Towns

Towns is apparently being acquired by the New York Knicks. Apparently the source details two of Towns’ fiancee Jordyn Woods’ friends revealed that the couple are house-hunting in Manhattan, which sometimes can be a sign of an impending trade.

Woods’ pals reported that the move was sudden and urgent, with one speculating that it could be related to a trade.
