At a bare minimum FO get players and pay coaches to coach them. There is risk. Reddish has or had incredible potential. My goodness, Zion freakish ability is restricted by his lack of impulse control. Pussy and cupcakes stand in his HOF career. Eddy Curry did not have the motivation. Given more time these guys shake out by age 22. Not all teenage talent can become pro players. reddish seemingly has all the tools with his body but has not put the work in? Morant has all the fame and money any man could want but has it so very young and maybe came too easy? They do put the work on the court but there is more to that in life.

Makes you appreciate how hard it really is to succeed and guys like Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, and so many greats kept it together.

The very soon to be 24 year old stands 6-3 in shoes with a 6-8 wingspan. He is not liability on defense. Issue is he is not small, but not long. He is not super fast, but far from slow. His playmaking has improved, but not great. He can shoot!!!!! His penetrating has improved. He is crafty but JB is incredible by contrast.
He is really good and could command attention in the trade market that helps us get someone really good.
Im not saying thats what we do, but thats the reasoning.

It's why using IQ to upgrade our 3 spot makes more sense to me. IQ, Barrett and Toppin for Mikal Bridges should have an appeal to both teams. I think we lose the deal from a raw talent standpoint BUT add the better fit, on a sweetheart deal that allows the financial flexibility to still add to the team.

BUT compensation for iq must be high or I’ll happily accept what is. In other words I do not seek a trade unless someone can give me value commensurate. Two draft picks 1 being a lottery pick is the only way.

I like IQ a lot, but #4 is too high. I don't think Maxey, who has higher perceived value, gets you the #4. At least not straight up. And, if the Harden rumors are true, Houston isn't really under the gun to do an IQ trade. Also, Cam is a solid prospect, but I don't see him as being someone that's can't miss. His passing was deficient this season and he still has a lot to figure out in terms of handling secondary defenders. I mean, he's worse at the deficiencies we kill RJ for. Now Amen Thompson... that's a boom/bust talent I'd probably risk my imaginary GM job for.

If Harden comes, having a combo guy like IQ next to him actually works cause James is so ball dominant and not a defender. IQ can start and be either the PG or let Harden do his thing.

Trade for IQ this year and maybe you are trading for a starter whose salary slot is still $4m and you still have cap space to use on another free agent to add to those 2 guys.

Houston would need to trade for a guy like Capella to compliment Harden and shore up the middle. Could move Jalen Green because of overlap.

IQ, Harden, Eason, Jabari Smith, Capella.

Not deep playoff and prob needs 1 more vet in that lineup over Eason.

I'm not sure Houston is ready to give up on Green just yet. I think the plan is just to have a guy like Harden to orchestrate. But my main point is that IQ alone probably isn't giving you #4, forget about 4 and 20. You think Houston couldn't use Thompson or Whitmore? They need wing help too.
