![]() I love this current team. And we may be more talented than any Knick team in decades.
But I still say the 90's was "better". Oh good lord... https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XkmGrX7O0lQ

![]() Best since 99 when we had Cambridge KT Sprewell and Houston as well as good vets left over from Ewing's heyday. The 54 win squad had a Rasheed run in the beginning and Kenyon Martin run at the end. But Melo and JR were always high variance guys. This run feels sustainable for awhile.

![]() The storyline of this 2022-2023 Knicks team has yet to be written.
Imo it's the best Knicks team since the early-mid 1990's and might be the most talented I've ever witnessed. Especially on Offense. All I truly know is the All-Time greatest Knicks 2nd half (final 22 games) is 18-4 back in 1992-1993 (an ECF 60 win team who took Chicago 6 games ECF) And the way it's looking @ 6-0 after the All-Star break + 9-0 previous 9 + 11-1 previous 12? + Charlotte Hornets tomorrow? This Knicks team isn't losing another 4 games (final 16 games). 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 |

We have to keep our expectations tempered. Real ballsy decision making by Thibs early in the season benching ER and Rose for Grimes and McBride and great move by the front office getting J Hart to kind of replace both. There's still a lot of basketball left to be played. Let's not get disappointed if we lose as the 5 seed when that was kind of the rosiest outlook at the start. |

![]() I'm going with the 68/69 Knicks...the one which traded Walt Bellamy, a very good center, and Howard Komives, a solid but unspectacular PG, for Dave DeBusschere.
They went on a run and eventually lost to the Celtics in Russell's final title season. Brunson is having a breakout season, like Clyde did after he was given full control of the team, and Hart has provided toughness and a veteran presence like DeBusschere did, even though he hasn't been as productive as DD was. Lineup adjustments have also allowed IQ to blossom and to be honest, his emergence is also a bit like Clyde's emergence that year. The comparison is far from perfect, but that is what I'm going with. ![]() This season is hard to rank before the string is played out
The 99' team was the 8th seed. They were a "sleeper" back then, but that wasnt really accurate because of the roster. Even without Ewing. Unfortunately ran into Pops and the Spurs, at the start of their championship run, their dynasty. As Nalod pointed out, the 54 win team ran out of gas by the all star break. Most of the star veterans retired during the season, or the following season somewhere else. It was a fun half season though. Linsanity I figured would last until Lin was properly scouted. His relenteless pursuit of a cash grab the same season, kind of sours the memory for me. This season has had its ups and down. Doubt we would be having this discussion without Brunson in a Knick uniform. Right now I would rank it short of the 99' team, for obvious reasons. Speaking of the 99' team. I believe Brunson has been the biggest game changer since Sprewell. Statistically its Melo of course. But Melo didnt bring the infectious energy that Spree brought, that Brunson brings. Melo was more mercenary, for lack of a better word. |

Yeah...I'm one of the fortunate ones who got to see two championships. I was in my teens when the trade went down, and the team went on a run, setting up the 69/70 title team. Rooted for the NY Nets too, at that time. It might have been a high point for NY BB with the success those two teams had. If Reed stays healthy, we would've won 2 more titles, IMO.
