I guess Jordan Poole was nice but most GMs can hit on one pick like that. I don’t see what makes him this big catch. Anywhere else he goes he won’t have a Steph to build around.

He took the helm in April 2012, when GS came off of 23-43 record for season. Drafted Harrison Barnes (7) and Draymond Green (30s?) in that first and then oversaw 5 straight finals appearances from 2014-18 and the Durant maneuver followed by another finals last year. Curry had 2 years experience and Klay had 1 before 2012-13 season.

6 finals and 4 rings, about 11 years total

Very fair. But does he do any of that without Steph curry and klay Thompson? Seems like right place right time as much as anything. I don’t think anyone could have screwed that up.

Well, it does happen though, the screw ups. Cleveland had younger LeBron, Kyrie and Love and went to 4 finals, won 1. 2 years later LeBron and Kyrie gone and then 3 straight lottery appearances.

Things can go hey wire a lot.

Very true. And I guess I’m mainly just stuck on the recent drafts. A lot of mistakes. No obvious starters came out of those 3 lottery picks so far. A good GM has to at least nail one or two of those.

Drafts aren't the whole picture but comparison:

To be clear, Rose is not the GM of the Knicks, Scott Perry is. Rose is President. Comparing Myers to Rose isn't exactly apples to apples. They should be comparing Myers transactions including drafts to Perry. Myer's draft picks are buried behind amazing HOF caliber players. The guy landed Durant and was able to get Russell when he left. He turned Russell into Wiggins and picks. I mean. With all the cap space in the world, we signed our own FAs and Fournier. And we manufactured space by trading the players we re-signed for space to sign Brunson.

I don't think Myers' track record should show anything other than a phenomenal GM. Not all moves work out. Not all draft picks develop. But I would love to have drafted Moody, Wiseman and Kuminga. I wouldn't have chosen different.

That wouldnt be a fair comparison. Most of Perry's moves were made in just 2 seasons, before Leon became team president, and had more of a say in personnel decisions. In those 2 years he drafted or signed most of the starting lineup, set us on a more fiscally prudent course, stockpiled draft picks, and got us out under cap hell. Didnt get a chance to show what he would have done with more time, more say as GM.

If we consider him to replace Scott Perry (not President role with Rose) than fine. But I have full confidence Perry would have built a dynasty around Steph and klay too.

Didn’t draft Curry or Klay Thompson. Did draft Draymond Green and KD decided to sign with the warriors when he wanted to be a wuss frontrunner. Unless bringing him here somehow gets us Steph Curry pass.

good point. If he gets paid 8mm now, why would he take a lessor role as GM and likley a pay cut? He is currently President and GM of the Warriors.
Unless he gets to run the whole thing in time?
Leon I signed on March of 2020. Clickbait to say knicks for these articles.
But lets speculate why he would leave?

1. Money
2. Owners children want to run it/conflict of team direction
3. More Money.
4. Wants a stake in a team like Connelly got.
5. Wants long term contract and team ownership at a crossroads.
6. Team might sell?

Since his contract runs out the byline is "he might leave". Duh. Given nobody making a statement or offering details of any negotiations.
My take is there is a conflict of how the team is to be run. They have not gone in full with a rebuild and have an aging core. At the same time that building is a palace that needs to be full.
They could leverage the yoot and keep winning. They did great last year.
Poole was an interesting sign. Dray wants more money and what to do with Klay?
Meanwhile Kuminga and Wiseman are not advancing and need time on the court.
