If it’s me, I am still getting McBride and IQ meaningful minutes. But, if I call on Derrick Rose cause it’s time, I want DRose to be himself. The good and the bad. Just do you. Breakdown the defense and score or find the open man. No need to be anything other than himself. If Derrick is on the court, give Derrick the ball handling responsibilities.

He is being too deferential when he gets minutes.

I’m frustrated with the 0-2 from the charity stripe at the end of the game. He is leaving everything on the floor, but I can’t help but think the starting 5 player too many minutes here. It shows on defense most of the time where guys stop closing out. Watching the open 3. Guys play tired but I think they could have rested more. The second unit was effective. I’d like to think that 0-2 was more about having tired legs than the yips.

Tough loss.

I think I agree with all of this. McBride and IQ should get the focus of minutes where you can but they do falter at times.

The question to me remains: What's the cuttoff or fine line of getting DRose minutes when you can to get his rhythm and not exposing that lineup and its faults when the points are piling up against and it's the difference between win/loss.

I think that's the balance for the coaching staff, and so far, wins are more important right now.

Imo, Rose has been playing like their has already been an internal agreement that he will be moving on. Just seems like a guy fighting for a ten day contract when he is in. One who comes in and chucks up shots to have a memorable audition. Maybe it's a residual effect from not playing but just do not see how he forgets to run a offense in less than a year.

Deuce seems like he is getting over his fear of shooting. Have noticed an improvement in games during streak. He may be at the point that all he needs is the confidence of the coach. Giving him extended minutes, even if he is being somewhat timid or we are struggling
, may be what is needed to give him the confidence he truly needs to take the next step.

IQ at the Point takes away too much from the second unit. Since we do not have any other scorers. Feel IQ would be better suited as PG with other strong scorers around him. Ie with first unit. Putting him as PG in second not only gives us a shoot first PG but also takes away our best SG in that unit.

You want to make 100mil you gotta leave it on the floor every night. Jalen does this. I hope he learns to dial it back just enough to preserve his body with regular starter minutes. Be better to have young back ups that can do better. What team can’t say this?
Rokas? Its a nice thought and I’d love to see him come and compete. Nice to have conundrums like this. What to do with Deuce or IQ if he does?he has to earn his way on to the court. With two first round, maybe three draft choices it more likely Brock Aller starts doing his draft night thing and interesting to see if he can do the reverse of what has been which is orchestrate a knick move up in the draft. For now one or two of Rokas, Deuce, and IQ are potential trade fodder as are the picks.

For me, I see a player who hasn't seen court time in about 18 months, is 34yo, and who has a ton of miles in those multiple-times surgically repaired legs.

He has lost a ton of weight too, no idea how that has effected his play but he just looks different.

Brunson has been better than expected on 3's - I didn't think that was a big part of his game. What I love about Brunson's offensive game is that its about savvy/cleverness/skill. I think he could be a really effective player well into his 30's because he doesn't rely on explosion/physicality.

I didn't realize JB got his 3 point percentage up to 38%. Second highest percentage of his career if it holds on the highest volume in his career. Who say you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

Interesting observation. Brunson does make a lot of cuts which is wear and tear. Crawford durability was very genetic as well as you said his style. He did a lot of cross overs but on his slender build looked more natural. Brunson is stocky and not a high flyer which might add more durabilty. Kyrie is quick, and someone like Baron Davis/Dwade/DMitchell had that but with power. Brunson is crafty.

The path to contending is likley not with him in his current role. Perhaps with him off the bench in his next contract. Reality is we don't have the foundational pieces but one never knows until you get closer.
RJ and Grimes have high ceilings given their age.
I cannot fathom how we get there from here. Many of us try to piece it together. Also, its important this franchise get to the playoffs for its fans and to make money. Then one can start to look at consolidated trades and leverage the assets.

FO has never and will never tell us its goals and objectives. Nor will Dolan. Flat out build a chip contender takes some luck via increased opportunity. We are positioned for this.
Grimes is a very good example. As is Mitchel Robinson. As is Randle who came to us via free agency and evolved into a very good player FROM THE TIME HE GOT HERE! His first Fiz season was chaotic. year two ALL NBA. Three (thumbs down) and year 4 is perhaps even better than Year two. More efficient. He is evolved as a player and maybe as a person too.

If this is who and what we are its not a bad thing. Make the damn playoffs. Then win a series. Maybe not this year. If we are rolling with yoot its OK.
Im not worried about wearing out Brunson quite yet. The contending future might not feature him. But I can't tell you who does. As long as we have players developing beyond their contracts or draft status good things can happen. This is more apparent now than any time in the last 25 years.

Knicks under RIley made the jump because of Starks and Mason both n the court and as trade chips.

The number of starting quality, and All Star PGs who have spurned the Knicks over the last 20 plus years, could fill a phonebook. Brunson didnt. He's putting his body on the line every night like few PGs. I believe the FO owes it to Brunson to assemble a contender asap.
