personally, i prefer RJ at the 2 so he can use his size, but i suspect we'll see a lot of minutes with RJ and Grimes on the floor with Grimes playing 2

If Cam wants my advice stop trying to dribble penetrate so much. Run the floor, play D, keep it simple(r)

Where do you see IQ when Rose plays?

IQ is just a guard. SO if Rose is on the court i'd say he'd be a 2, but with the way Rose sometimes can shoot lately maybe Rose is the 2 -- sort of who cares when the 2 of them on court together.

I think you may have missed what I was intending. If you see Grimes and EF at the 2, and Cam and RJ at the 3, where does that leave IQ and his minutes?

Grime time is coming soon. As seen by the one preseason game he played it will take some time to shake off the rust but I can't wait.

I would look to move RJ Barrett mid season and "develop" Cam Reddish

Good luck with that. No one is taking that deal on. Maybe the Pelicans to keep Zion happy but thats it

We are creatures that go with whats in front of us. Last week at 3-1 were all so happy. Now we move towards ,500 as expected and we are all impressionable to the current 2 game losing streak.

1. Grimes needs times. When he is out playing EF, then worry about EF.
2. obi and Randle have very different games. OBI can ask out but who wants him, at what price, and does he get a commitment to start? Thats what he wants.
3. Mitch fouling is an issue again. Otherwise he is killing it.

Cam is “coming around” he has gone for woeful preseason and “thibs don’t want him” to “Maybe we should rethink this”. Its a process and he is playing better. His ankle is better, he is not garbage. We don’t have to decicde anything until Grimes plays and is consistant.

If team is not flourishing I move Drose to a contender and to his benefit as continue the yoot movement here. I like Drose a lot.
If we are in the top 8 I keep him.

I don't think it's a dilemma... get EF going and trade him

Question is, how many years do you think it will take for Cam to achieve his alleged potential? Think Bball IQ takes many years. If that is longer than Knicks are willing to commit to, you play Grimes(who they are committed to) EF and Rose (who are older and slightly better) and shelf Cam until he has another opportunity.

The bold isnt quite the right question... but it's really close.

I think the right questions are kind of 2 parts:

Part I
Will Thibs and crew be able to accurately see his potential?
Will they be able to coach him there if it's high?
Will they be able to gauge how long? (resigning him over prioritizing other guys)

Part II
Its possible Part I takes all year and ends with "I dont think Cam is our guy."
Is that risk/reward worth shelving the good play you know will get from Fournier most nights?

Think these are good points.
My hesitancy with players like Cam is that the hope that exists never really materializes.
Maybe it's the coaching. Maybe it's the commitment. Maybe the patience.
At the end of the day, the NBA is littered with former high potential prospects that are just not that good. It's a league in which most young players that amount to anything, do so early on.
Just look at how we waited for Frank, Knox etc and took a chance on so many former lottery picks in FA. To eventually find out that the initial lack of success was for a reason.
Think it takes many variables to be successful in Todays NBA. Unfortunately, it seems you either have it or not. Feel that is what GMs think as well. Think they feel it's sometimes easier to move on to the next prospect and hope they get it early as opposed to waiting years and investing a lot of time into ones that may never get it. Just the way it is. Feel it's easy to say Cam needed more time patience in Atlanta. But there is that chance that he is just not that good. As always, I am okay with us finding out unless we have an alternative or get back something of higher value. If not, no harm giving him minutes.
