We would have no bench and no way to improve the bench. Randle is not efficient enough to be a big 3 of anything. He is playing much better this year but not enough to be considered part of a big 3. We would have 2 short guards and Evan. Bro, that team would be trash and have no options.

Lets not talk about how we have to give up most of our core but the Cavs only had to give up 2 players they no longer wanted anyway. Lauri looks good this year but he was unwanted and Sexton was unsigned and coming off a knee injury. The Cavs are a way more talented team so their picks after a Mitchell trade are way less value than ours is. So the fact that Ainge went with them makes no sense unless he wanted us to overpay or he was never going to trade with us anyway. I am sorry but Mitchell having a good game vs us is not going to change the facts of the situation. So my mind has not been swayed one bit on this topic.

He only wanted to trade with the Knicks if he could rob them. Him going to the Cavs to get that offer and then not coming back to the Knicks tells you everything about his mindset regarding the Knicks.

It’s called “the long view” kids. Look it up.

IQ - solid bench roll player
RJ - still has a lot of bad habits going to the rim, but a workhorse
Obi - looks great in transition, but struggles in the half court

It all falls on Grimes. He needs to average 15 points this season when he comes back.

If we are going to battle and get the 13 pick and be in the play in game, I think giving the Lakers, Cam/Randle/Fournier for Russ and 2 first rounders makes a lot of sense. I would rather watch Brunson, Grimes, RJ, Toppin and Mitch battle and improve our draft position and clear some cap room.

It's only a matter of time before Orlando leaps above us, Indy is coming with their backcourt, we need to figure out how to get more talent in hear asap.

1 - the talent to be a contender.
2 - The assets left over to get other players that will make you a contender.
3 - Good team Balance after the trade.

The Mitchell trade would have left us with a no in all of these situations. The Wolves went all in on a team that is looking like will hover about .500. Their team imbalance is a team with two big 7 footers in a league built around pace and space. Our imbalance would have been 2 small guards with Evan which means we would have been at a disadvantage on defense at the guard position every night.
