Beat all the bad team and steal some wins against the good teams. That’s all it takes.

hey that's the sign of good teams.... bad one's cant beat you when you execute well every night. The nicely dispersed scoring is a GREAT omen. Randle/RJ/Brunson/Mitch all just got paid. They dont give a phuck about shots, they just wanna win. I think that's showing and its a great group for Thibs to coach the blood out of

We’ve had some rough losses to the magics at home over the years. I’m happy to see us take care of business

If Julius stays this way and RJ plays like how he did in the second half last night, we should be a very good team IMO.

Interesting stuff, very modern game. Ror reference, GS, Minny and Jazz all averaged right around 40 3pointers a game last year.

Last season, Thibodeau put a goal in place for the Knicks in the preseason — try to attempt between 37 and 40 three-point field goals per game. In a disappointing season, that was at least one goal they reached. They put up 37 threes per game, which pushed them to 10th in the NBA, up from 30 a season before that, which ranked them fourth- worst in the league.

So Thibodeau, despite a reputation as a defensive coach who wants to drag teams into the mud, came to camp this season with a new goal: More threes.

Thibodeau wouldn’t put the number out publicly Monday, but when asked if it was about 42, he smiled and said, “42 is a little low.” When 45 was pitched to him, he said, “Still low.’’

In the Knicks’ first two games of the season, they attempted 75 — ticking up slightly higher per game than last season but still 10th in the league.

“Yeah, we nudged it up a little bit,” Thibodeau said. “But it’s how can we create more of those opportunities. It’s not just threes; I’m watching what’s going on in the league. So we have to make sure we’re not falling behind in that area. But it’s also your layups, your easy baskets, attacking the rim, the free throws and then the corner threes.

Martin he's our Tom Coughlin... a really good coach with a great skill set who's stepping back and still learning himself. Our squad plays so hard every night on both ends and I think Thibs would throw himself into traffic if it could earn his squad a win. They play like it

100%

I think a lot of people are missing stuff that the FO and Thibs are doing (and perhaps intermittently not succeeding at). This is not the Thibs that rumors whisper about, this is new and improved Thibs who keeps evolving.

I have a theory that both the FO and Thibs - all those guys combined - know this is their best, last, and maybe only shot at succeeding at a high level and in NY. Triply so for Thibs. New York is his heartland and where he always wanted to land and he is doing it like he knows it and treating it as such. This is his sunset and last coaching gig and he decided to do everything thing as right as he can.

The notion that some hold that Thibs and/or FO is on thin ice is and will continue to be utterly ridiculous on a thousand different levels to me.

its just a total lack of reading the room. Anyone spouting that stuff is isolated in their own echo chamber... (vmart you have been VERY quiet)

They continue to build and identity the right way. Thibs wants his players to be themselves... just the best best version. Look at how these guy play every night. They want to win. Totally agree with you on Thibs in NY and "this is his chance."

I think we have the start of a nice formula with Thibs and his 4 horses RJ/Jules/Jalen/Meetch

It took so long for this team to eliminate the long twos. We watched it for the last 10 years when it feels like ever other team stopped taking them. While we aren’t a 3pt shooting team, it seems like they have found a formula to make up for it in other ways offensively.

So far through 4 games I’d grade us a b-
Defense has been spotty. The 2 guard position has underwhelmed .
R j needs to work through slower start.
Now we step up in talent versus opposition —- Tgis is where the true evaluation starts
