SupremeCommander wrote:this **** is insane. Carmelo Anthony was more established than Donovan Mitchell, yet Danny freaking Ainge is making the Melo deal look cheaplook, I want Donovan, but it is probably best to politely decline, let the Jazz deal with their one reporter asking what the deal is after every practice, and then wait until the deadline. they want us to pay a premium because it's the offseason. well, tighten the screws and let them deal with Mitchell getting close to his walk date
Melo had leverage. Was walking into a opt out. His sense of urgency was a strike and a balky knee that required minor surgery. He wanted to go under the knife with a new contract, not as a free agent. Melo wanted to be in NYC. Melo asked to be traded and it went on for a while. It all added up.
This matters. Yes, Melo was an multi year allstar. So is DM. But DM is a bit younger with a 3 years left on a deal.
This makes him valuable. This is a different era.
Not all picks are the same value or projected to be.
I keep reading what Ainge wants and some fans getting mad at knicks for that. Nope, that trade has not happend. That making that deal won’t do anything either.
Siakim. Big contract and should come without a big price. I see 6-7 RJ as our wing going forward. At a lower price Siakim as our 3 with RJ at the 2 is cool in my book. Im not close to giving up on RJ NOT being an allstar.
I get Utah don’t want Randle. What do they want and what do they get are very different things. DM has not said a thing which is telling. He is not asking out. Melo did. He is not asking to be traded to a city. Melo did. Durant wants out. Dm has not stated this. This is not about a disgruntled player wanting out with very specific leverage as to where they will resign. Kawhai was walking. SAS got what they could. Raps got it done with a one year rental and Marc Gasol. Good for them, if not, it looks bad as Derozen is still going strong and Marc Gasol fell off really quick were Valachunas is still going good. Hindsight matters.
