You have to give to get. I like Grimes a lot. But I will personally send an Uber to pick him up and drive him to Utah if it means bringing in D Mitch.

Grimes has looked great. I can totally see him starting and having a real impact on both ends.

It’s very possible that Grimes could have a better nba career than RJ. And yes Donovan is an all star or multi allstar player. But there are plenty of recent all stars who don’t make their team better. I haven’t watched all of Donovan games since he been in the league but the little bit I saw and hear, he’s a great scorer that lacks defense and undersized. Nothing screams at me that he’s a playmaker who makes his teammates better.

Personally with this team right now I rather have Grimes who has Donovan potential and paid a fraction of Donovan’s salary than to morgage the future for a great 1 on 1 scorer. I think for this team, Chris Paul at his advanced age might improve this team more than Donovan. I understand Lebron not coming through that door but that’s the kind of player you mortgage your future for. Lebron has a banana boat of all star players that follow him. Does Donovan have that kind of pull amongst nba players?

I like grimes and want to see what he turns into.

We all know I love McBride but I’m ok trading him instead of grimes. But even if we trade grimes band McBride. It will be nice to see how these 4 play together. It’s a risking experiment (Brunson, Donovan, Grimes RJ and Randle).

Brunson and Donovan are both undersized but they play bigger than their size on defense and they have enough offense to balance out their defensive weaknesses. Mitch is growing and maturing so that helps when defense breaks down.

Imagine seeing Grimes, Brunson, and IQ subjecting opponents to shenanigans like this in the future…

We have finally found a two way starter late in the draft. Great. Now let's trade him for a one way player at the same position. Someone whose d has been exploited in the playoffs, by the opposition. I wonder how that's going to turn out, hmm

That team was a finals team. If it wasn't for the crooked refs

Worst thing they could do now is sell early.

Everyone was losing their mind after Tyler Hero. If I hear one more analyst give these ****ty hypothetical trades with Hero and Robinson and three late picks for a star I’m going to puke.

We aren’t winning the championship either way. Let’s boast everyone value with a real point guard. Reassess and she who the next player is to want to make a move.

SGA is just as good as Mitchell. Murray was only worth 3 picks and Mitchell is worth 6 and 3 young guys?! Rose don’t be stupid.

Grimes is a workhorse. High IQ wings that shoot the 3 and defend are hard to find.

This kid is going to average 15pts for a long time

Ironically, although Grimes is not an all-star, I truly believe his ceiling is higher than Mitchel’s.
His fundamentals are solid and his shooting stroke is pure, almost Allan Houston like.

I prefer to see a full season with our team as currently constructed.

I’m with you. I think Brunson and Mitchell is probably a second round playoff team at it’s best, but we have to give up a lot. I’d rather keep that flexibility open and bank on guys like Grimes and RJ to take that next step. If Mitchell is like 5 inches taller and locking in on D like he did on Louisville then I can live with it but as it stands the fit is too flawed.

I know he was a “PG” coming into Kansas but his ball handling has definitely improved. Let the boy keep growing. I don’t know why, but like the blkexec, I could see Grimes becoming a more impactful player than RJ. All just speculation tho. Right now his first step is playing his way into starting lineup and giving us double digits per game.

Call me crazy but I don’t think we should trade grimes.

Maybe it’s because I love 2 way players and Donovan is a 1 way player. He would be the best offensive player we’ve had since I don’t know melo? But with the haul we have to give up, it’s not worth it. There also a reason why Ainge prefers grimes.

I don’t mind losing IQ, Obi, RJ and my favorite Deuce. But I think Grimes is only scratching the surface of his potential.

I agree. Grimes can be a bit shot happy because in his mind anytime he is open, it is a good shot (because he is that good of a shooter), but I still think that him starting next season is a necessity. Fournier is a good player, but his lack of defense is better suited for the second unit. Grimes has the potential to develop into a solid starting SG, and as others have suggested, he could become a better player than RJ if his shots continue to fall.

Yup I don’t see a future all star in Grimes Yet , but a 6-5/6-6 Reggie bullock type that can be a secondary creator averting around 15-17 a game on very efficient shooting(so maybe Gary Trent or Buddy Hield?) If the off the dribble stuff develops then He’s an easy 22 And 6 guy.

It's not just about talent- I just like those players, they work hard and are just fun to watch and easy to like. They're fun to root for. That matters to me
