This is the first big signing I haven't gone "bruh what the **** are the Knicks doing?" before I try to rationalize it as a good move after the emotions settled down. Think Hardaway, Fournier, Noah etc...

We got a skilled guard who can create for others and himself and is about to enter his prime soon.

If nothing else, excited that the FO was able to accomplish their goal with this signing instead of shifting to the backup plan.

I hope this pans out. Still want to focus on our young core - RJ/IQ/Obi/Mitch - but this doesn't detract from that in any way. We'll just get more combo guard Quick than PG Quick.

Not comparing the two, but Brunson might be the best starting PG we've had at or near their prime since Felton. When he was in shape.

Yup, losing Burks means we only have Grimes and Fournier who can reliably punish teams from perimeter

For me, it’s because he pushes Barrett to SF, Barrett takes the harder defensive assignments and Fournier still can’t put up reasonable defensive numbers. He is a fine 3pt shooter, but I hope for two-way players.

There is a distinct possibility that the failures of Kemba on defense impact the DPM of Fournier (and every other starter), but dFG doesn’t bail Fournier out on that theory.

I can just see the Knicks getting skewered whatever the outcome of the Brunson Campaign. If he takes the Dallas offer we will be laughed at for clearing all this cap space and once again failing to land our man. If we sign him, Cuban will boast that he deliberately made an offer to Brunson to trick the Knicks into overpaying,;
