I don't think Detroit starts off making Mitch an offer now...with all they've cleared up, option A got to be Ayton. Hopefully we can get Mitch to commit before they redirect if Ayton says no. But I would still feel good at $16M on Mitch. Would go up to $18 if it was a deal breaker. |

The issue is how much Phoenix wants to play ball. Ayton needs Phoenix to get all five years of his max with Detroit. Other issue is even if Detroit does sign Ayton to an offer sheet, Phoenix can drag the issue out and cause Detroit to miss out on other FAs. Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right.
