Mitch is going to get paid and he will be an expense. He doesn’t bring enough to the table to make a difference and to be given a big contract. He is a liability in today’s NBA. He can’t shoot outside of 5 feet from the basket.
Mitchell has led the team in win shares every season he has played by a considerable margin. He was 13th in the league last season. I get how the "eye test" would find it hard to believe he was the 13th most impactful player in the league but that's why we have stats.
This.
It is incredible and so Knick-like that our front office is cheaping out on resigning Mitch after giving Randle that asinine contract
You had me at "Resigning Mitch" but then you had to throw "asinine Randle" contract. Mitch will probably look to get a 4 year $15M per contract despite limited offensive game and fragile injury history.Randle had many years of production and had an All Star year. Do hope we sign Mitch and hoped he would have been extended. However, maybe a team like the Warriors would be a better fit. Teams that can afford to have a Center that is just a slasher and can protect the rim. So not know if the Knicks can spend so much on a player that may not be on the floor and who is to this point quite limited on the offensive end. Still feel/hope he will remain a Knock though.
Randle has easily the league’s worst contract. He’s a more in shape Zach Randolph. Double doubles every night but his teams don’t win. That’s why Randle has made the playoffs once in 8 nba seasons
Lol. He may not even be the worst contract on the Knicks, let alone the league.
Guess you never heard of Wall, KP, Westbrook, Hayward, Harris, KLove? Randle is still our BEST player. Take a look around the league and see how much each team's best player is making. Then look at how many are making more than Randle and are not the best players on the team.
Phil is the new rainman. He has been presented with facts but ignores it and rambles with same answers.
“Randle is worst contract”………20-10 guy and was the 47th highest paid player. Nobody said Randle is without issues. Hardley worst contract. This has all been presented many times.
At the end of the day there are several reasons some can choose to not be fans of Randle. He is often stingy with the rock. Should not be bringing the ball up. Can show a better attitude. And does not seem to fit well in a fast paced offense. But as mentioned, facts show that his contract is not as bad as some have made it out to be. Which if Knicks decide to pivot, is a contract they can recapture some value for.
We all saw the “Bubble ceiling” and a career that does not demonstrate aloofness. He was not paid on that ceiling. I saw lots of things I did not like but the not agreeing with staff happens to many players thru a season, frustration with teammates happens (early trimester with EF), Frustration with his own play, and Frustration with injuries. We berated him for walking off the court vs win against Bulls but we learned he reininjured his leg and was done.
Not pick up a player? Did he not see him? Does he never pick up his players? Was this a season long thing or one of perhaps a very few instances?
He is a good very good defenseive player but this year got lost and had some bad looks. We as fans at least understand if one players misses an assignment another can be made to look. Stupid? How much of that was going on? We all focused on the symptoms but not the cause? Clyde is in our heads and its rare for an announcer to go way deep into whats going.
37 wins was a disappointment and that was with yoot. The team never quit on itself or their coach. Randle looked bad, I won’t deny that. Tell me why, then how it can be fixed before I just dump him for a bag of rocks. Is he more Marbury or Jimmy Butler? Good as Jimmy has been over the years, he was often a dick abstinent, and a distraction. Winning is tilting factor!
