The two key guys however HAVE to play consistent Barrett and Randle. Were gonna get a boost from Burcks. Our defense will start to look like last years.

IT MIGHT not be the only move we need to make--but it WILL HOPEFULLY give the needed injection to get this back to a 50 win clip.

Briggs....I appreciate the optimism, but you need to understand this isn't a 50 win team. The sooner you accept this, the sooner you'll be able to cope with the next round of disappointing losses.

45 would be great but I don't think they get there. This stretch will have the team a few games under .500. I think .500 will be the likely finish barring any injuries. That might be in th etop 10

Well everyone is saying we are this defensive force without Kemba in the rotation yet we’ve given up 112 and 119 points in regulation last 2 games

I love Burks. The guy is not a full time PG. he played really well Saturday night against the hawks because he has their number just look at game 1 of the playoffs last season

Kemba will be the starting pg again in about 2 weeks

And Rose has a second unit PG mentality. He scored 16 and was a -14?

havent they been missing a few other players for all or most of the last 2 games? this was not an elite team when he played and is not currently with him not playing.

This team is losing close games to good teams. Obviously beat a good team in Atlanta. Why is it assumed that as soon as we bench Kemba we are suddenly going to beat the beat teams in the East ? The margin of error is so small. The problem is 2 losses this season to Orlando, etc. We lose 1 possession games to great teams because we aren’t a team capable of doing more right now.

We can’t start games and can’t close games. Moving Burks to the SL was supposed to help in those areas. But the elephant in the room is Randle. He hasn’t proved to be a closer you can depend on due to his tunnel vision and high TOs. So until Randle and Thibs address the elephant, we will continue to be mediocre. This team needs a trade in the worse way. Randle can’t be the only player we depend on to close out games. We need another closer. Is it RJ? I don’t know. But Randle alone ain’t working. And Randle needs to accept that he’s not ready to be the main closer in the 4th. Has to be a team effort. I just don’t trust thibs offensive team strategies. Mediocrity at its best. I guess playing with out a crowd vs with a crowd makes a difference. I hope Randle proves me wrong. But if I’m building this team, I would do my best to add a star that Randle can play with and doesn’t mind giving up the ball. I saw in crunch time Randle was trying to give the ball to quick and quick wasn’t ready for that roll. We don’t have a lot of options when it comes to closing out close games. We need to fix that or there’s no point in trying to make the playoffs, just to get knocked out 1st round.

Your not wrong but we also saw a preview of some realignment of sorts 2nd half last night. Randle turned it up. His pace was up. He played more in the paint. Lets see a few games what results are. closing out is an art form and we have no answers for that at a high level. Few teams do in fact, but lets stay on knicks. Come crunch time ball movement for all teams slows down. IQ game is not conducive as he thrives on momentum. Obi brings that. Clamoring for more obi is cool but his half court game and long range shooting is not there. His handle is improved and he is a key driver for our down hill 2nd unitl blasts. More often than not that won’t happen in tight games in crunch time.

Mitch is rounding into shape slowly. Keeps getting banged up. Three outcomes for him: Trade, Resign, or he walks. Nothing new here. But it plays out and sone prediction is correct.

RJ. He was out and he been down of late. Trajectory change or whats is up? I don’t know. It too plays out.

Burks. Not the solution. Easy to type we need a playmaker. Harder to fulfill. Perhaps we did not want to marry Lonzo at that money. EF is versatile and very tradable contact with Timmy Hardaway type money. He is not overpaid. He is good, not great. His contract is good, not great. Nothing to predict here other than “versatile”.

Obi. On the rise and good trade asset. Love the kid. Randle is our guy and I get OBI is more fun to root for.

We are poised to make a deal if one presents itself. Fuck if I know what it will be.

We are good, not great. Its what it is, not what we want.

and I think my fear with Thibs who can get us to grind out wins during the year, but come playoff time, we're burnt, spent and have no extra gear to go to when other teams do.

Does it meet reality? Julius is playing 35.4 mpg. Give or take, he is within the range of the top 30 players in the league. So that equates out to each team having about 1 player in that range, so all teams are grinding it out.

All the other Knicks are averaging 31 or less minutes, cause Thibs has a deep rotation.

We are not burnt AND we have many extra gears.

True that Randle’s minutes are down this year- he lead last year and this year playing like crap.

And minutes are just one thing- it’s the level of focus, concentration, expenditure of effort. We’re a bit like the Riley Knicks- that group had very little talent, but were absolute warriors who lacked the talent to get past Jordan and the Rockets.

It’s the little engine that could or the slow and steady.

But I disagree that we have more gears to go to. Our upside talent wise is IQ, Obi & RJ, with the first two really representing the only chance this squad has to be something other than a 500 1st round play off exit team.

2-3 in the last 5 games. We could be 0-5 easily. People are really down for no reason. They will be fine.

the only run I see happening is when the fans go for one after games as a coping method for accepting a future filled with mediocrity...
