I don't think he is much further behind Mitchell Robinson when he came out. I didn't think he could crack the main roster when we drafted him, but he can and will.

They definitely should sign Sims to a four year deal like they did Mitch. He will take two years to develop but, if he can develop a 15-17 foot jumpshot, a few post moves, and improve he defensive awareness (which will come time and experience), he has a shot to be real good - Like a young Ben Wallace. His athleticism is off the charts.

He's going to end up taking somebody's minutes, either Taj, Noel or mitch, He just seems more durable then all of them

Day after noel takes a Rest, is 27 has some injury concerns and mitch is still out after breaking his foot. Taj is 36.
Your analytical skills really do impress yourself, don’t they? You cam up with that all by your self? You are a king among knick fans.

It’s a long season. Eventually someone will get injured and he’ll be getting minutes at either the 4 or 5

He'll be playing for the D league Weschester Knicks team . No need to keep him with the NBA Knicks cause he'll rot on the bench playing behind 3 guys ahead of him( MitchRob, NOEL and Gibson.. Better to have him get some burn with the Weschester Knicks team in the D league..

All 3 guys are somewhat injury prone— so I think sims has probably already earned a spot on the Knicks. When he’s eligible to be signed for longer we should give him the rookie 4 years 5 mm to keep him under ling term contract for smaller money. But you’re also right. He’s gonna get burn in the d league to work on some things— get reps. But he’s been a nice surprise. I also think he can play much better. He’s got a rope with the Knicks. An excellent second rd pick

I would not send him to the G league

I know this isn't the NFL, but I would rather keep him for the practice squad. This coaching staff has a lot of experience developing players and being around the vets will have more of an impact, especially with this hard working group.

he should absolutely be playing in the G league and getting starter minutes down there. He's on a 2 way deal so if Mitch and Noel are hurt you bring him up and he's #2 behind Taj. There's no need for a 3rd center to sit on the bench every game. If a guy gets hurt you call him up, but Sims is showing enough flashes he's got some real promise. He's not learning in practice as the 3rd or 4th center. Once the season starts the practice schedule dwindles.

Sims needs to play. He's built like Ben Wallace. He's got 7'4 wingspan and an insane vertical to match. He needs lot of pro minutes. He's really raw. Love him and could see him develop into a long term rotation guy

A two-way player, which is what he is, is somewhat the best of both worlds.

He'll get PT with Westchester and he'll stay with the Knicks until their season starts, come back after the G League season ends, and the knicks will use his 45 days during the G-League season strategically.

He'll get regular PT and time and experience around the Knicks, which is the point and appeal of the two-way.

They practice at knicks facility. They get exposure. They only play 50 games in Gleague. He’ll get both.
NBA does not practice as much as one might think. Injuries will determine a lot.

Based on what?

His availability.

Right now I can't even envision Noel playing 10 games straight with out getting injured, same for Mitch, and Taj is gassed after 20 minutes.

On the other hand, I would actually rather see OBI at PF and Randle at Center, which would spread the floor wide open, we just wouldn't have much of a defensive anchor, but i feel like we would be able to ( take the MDA route) and out score anyone

You know what, if you want to say Robinson and Noel aren't durable fair enough.

But I don' think the two preseason games he's played and 3 weeks he's spent with the team qualifies him as seeming more "durable" ...

Let's give him ... I don't know ... an actual season in he NBA before we start drawing conclusions.

Only 3 Knicks played more games than Noel last year.

He might have an injury history, but the guy is tough.

Jules was #6 in defensive rating last season. For the entire league. He's not Mitch, but he's not ummmmm... Melo on the defensive end, either.
