Ofcourse Kyrie is refusing the vaccine

why is not vaccinating Stupid, especially when this is new territory for everyone involved. there is tons of unanswered questions that even the CDC can't answer as of yet

I had covid and didn't have a single symptom, not one... i took 2 test at CVS 3 days apart, and both came back positive, i waited and waited for the symptoms to come and nothing...I also was around my GF and the kids ages 14-20 (she is vaccinated, but not the kids), and not one of them caught it either..

It's like some can smoke all there life and never catch any kind of cancer, and someone thats never smoked a day in their life die from lung cancer..

you see a guy take 5 bullets and live to tell about it, and you see the next guy take one bullet in the same spot and die on the spot.

were all different ppl

It’s not always stupid to not take the vaccine. However, you know full well that A LOT of people not taking it are walking around with no masks and not social distancing while protesting that their kids shouldn’t have to wear masks in schools. THAT is stupid.

Therefore, you have no choice but to make the mandate.

Logic “not my problem”. Lucky is not being smart. If your not being smart, your being stupid.

Because not getting vaccinated is stupid. I’ve been fully vaccinated since last February and even got the booster not one side effect and never got covid

I haven’t seen him say one thing about the vaccine and the mask off thing is symbolic and non-covid related.

Not that I follow him.

No it is f’ing stupid of him. How else are people going to interpret it? I think he just expects people to think like him. I like him less and less everytime he speaks... and i never particularly cared for him.

Certainly seems like some Nets player so far haven't been vaccinated, becomes a bit of a disaster if they still opt not to before training camp- not only in terms of how it affects the team when their players can't practice or play at home with them, but also how do they avoid becoming the face of anti-vaxers or get drawn into a big story?

EW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets do not anticipate local COVID-19 vaccination requirements "being any sort of hindrance to us," general manager Sean Marks said on Tuesday. In New York City, proof of vaccination has been required for indoor fitness and indoor entertainment since mid-August, which means that, in the absence of a medical or religious exemption, every Nets player must have had at least one vaccine dose to enter their practice facility or arena.

Every NBA team will open training camp next week. If Brooklyn were beginning team activities today, Marks said, "there would obviously be a couple of people missing from that picture." He expects, however, that the holdouts will be vaccinated (or receive an exemption) shortly.

"I won't get into who it is," Marks said. "But we feel confident that, in the following several days before camp, everybody will be allowed to participate and participate fully."

From Randle's comments a few days ago on the issue, I don't think we're out of the woods yet though, seems like not all our roster is vaccinated either (Randle is, but he seemed to be trying to be respectful of players that have opted not to so far)

KNicks fans cool with not all our guys vaxxed but Nets are a different story? Marks said he does not anticipate it to be a problem.
Maybe they want Team docs to admin the jabs and then if a problem its in the normal sort on them if they have a bad reaction vs. outside medical were it could void or inhibit a contract? Like it guarantees the money? Players can't just go to other docs without team consent? Im just guessing.
If Knick players don't get vaxxed they don't become the face of it also?

I really hope none of our players take this stance:

The Golden State Warriors are concerned about the status of Andrew Wiggins this season for home games as he continues to plan to not receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The city of San Francisco requires full vaccination to be allowed indoors for entertainment.

Sources believe the NBA will grant Wiggins a religious exemption.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health said it would not comment on Wiggins’ specific situation unless he is granted a religious exemption from the NBA.

“We are actively addressing the matter of requests for religious exemption from vaccinations across many industries and will work with our business and entertainment community on next steps,” the San Francisco Department of Public Health said in a statement. “We will provide further clarification on this topic.”

Wiggins would forfeit more than $350,000 for each game he is forced to miss.

The Warriors recently connected Wiggins with an Oakland doctor who understands issues surrounding vaccine hesitancy. Wiggins remains unmoved in his decision against vaccination.

Though seems like the get out clause will be to claim religious exemption

The covid thing as a whole doesn't seem like it's going anywhere anytime soon, earlier this yr 7 of the yankees vaccinated players/staff tested positive..

....I don't think all of our players are Vaccinated, and there has been multiple players in THE MLB

Perhaps his religion now prohibits him from being a pro basketball player. Its not a human right to be a pro basketball player. There is a public health issue and its not just about putting himself in danger. Thats on him, he can segregate himself from the public and not interact with others to uphold his religious beliefs. Do these guys get Flu shots? Were they immunized at birth? Was that against their religion? What religion does not look out for their fellow man? Perhaps extreme orthodox sects of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity but that is a whole other discussion.
If Wiggins, or anyone else wants to isolate themselves and not vax thats cool. They pose no threat to contract and spread. Wiggins is not being forced to take the vax as much as he is being forced to be in the NBA.

My worry is that this galvanizes players resisting the vaccine and gives the stance more publicity- I remember an article saying there’s a difference between anti-vaxxers and the vaccine hesitant, the latter of which are more anxious/unsure, the former more conspiracy/hostile. Hesitant are probably more open to gentle persuasion, but could easily end up going the other way.

I guess you could say I was vax hesitant. For one, I had Covid in it's earliest days and suspected my own antibodies may be good enough. Second, it is my nature to be suspicious of the medical industry (and it is an industry), big Pharm, and the media in all forms. I sought to educate myself and decided to be vaccinated. The fact I wouldn't have my job if I didn't definitely was a push. I have to say I actually got sicker from my second Moderna shot than my original infection, although that had compromised my sense of smell which is still the case. Otherwise I'm pretty good now.

So all that to say that as much as I'd like to pile on Kyrie and any others not getting the shot, I guess I can empathize somewhat. But my personal opinion is if we all got vaxed we'd be a lot better off now.

Appreciate the honesty. I was too. Then a lot of people started dying. Getting it around a few hundred people by an national guard in uniform was like a movie. I was unnerved.

It about control and we dont always have it. I had open heart surgery years ago and a clergy said it helps to put your faith not just in your doctor, but those you love. Ask them if it feels right, seems right and should do it. Then think if the odds are with you.
That said, I have a few Dr friends that were in the trials and they explained how it was developed, how its not “New”, and its a pretty darn amazing we an do this stuff advanced. Is it perfect? Is the system ****ed up? Maybe. But the the Covid is real. WE are adapting. The virus is too. Maybe some people should learn more about the virus than focus on the vax?
Seems there a bunch of players still not there yet. Its there choice to be vaxed or not play. We honor rebels and those that push back in this country. Is that always good?

I have to tell you, I would not characterize you as vax hesitant thru my lense. Everyone should be hesitant with anything new at that level. It's what happens after the informed point that would be distinguishing
