Things can change but, so far, Obi has shown nothing but a rotational player so far. If the right offer comes along, he is not the type of player to hold a trade up for, especially if the player we are talking about is Turner. If Pacers are willing to take Mitch and Obi for Turner, Knicks should do that in a heartbeat. If the Knicks had Turner in the playoffs, Capella wouldn't have been able to play "free safety".

but...a trade like that, although we will be upgrading our center position, our PF depth will take a hit since Obi and Randle are only "Power Forwards" on the team.

Lol, Obi outside shot is better. By the same Age Amare was a monster inside with a freakish quickness that included some otherworldly explosive hop and hang time.
I saw him live jump to dunk in traffic. He jumped then seemed to hang for a moment, then like an UFO in air accelerate like a cartoon. it was freaky.
Obi is a very good athlete and I won’t label him yet but not to Amare like.

In order for OBI to get more PT he is going to have level up his skill set.

Don't see with a Mid range game at all, don't see him with an above avg ball handling skill so that take the SF position off the table.

He's not a shot blocker, paint protector, or an above avg rebounder, doesn't have much of a post up game, so You can take playing Center of the table..and your left with a rimmer running 3 point shooting PF, a position dominated by Randle

doesn't it depend on matchups? he could pull rim protectors out of the paint to contest his 3 if he's at center. could also outrun them down the court for dunks.

also could punish smaller sf's with post play and work off the boards.

thibs loves him and i believe will be looking for more ways to utilize him.

I think he is better than you give him credit for. Guy took a total of 209 shots his rookie season. Too small of a sample set to make wild assertions about his entire style of play.

This is his 209 shots mapped.

His shot selection looks exactly like Paul George's with a bit less efficiency from 3 but higher efficiency in the limited mid range shots he took. You got the same problem with Paul George's offense?
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/paul-george-shot-chart-this-season

Moreover, you can say he doesn't perform money stats on D, but the lineup he was in was the most effective lineup the Knicks had last season. There were a total of 8 lineups that had more than 75 minutes together on court last season. 7 out of 8 had Randle at PF. The only other lineup with more than 75 minutes was Rose/Quickley/Burks/Toppin/Gibson.

https://www.nba.com/stats/lineups/advanced/?Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&TeamID=1610612752&sort=NET_RATING&dir=1&CF=MIN*GE*75

I sorted that by NetRtg -- it had the highest NetRtg of all other lineups. If you change that to PIE -- Player Impact Efficiency, that lineup also had the highest Player Impact Efficiency of any lineup they Knicks used. What this most likely tells us is that our (I) our bench team outscored the opponents bench team when on the court and (ii) this bench lineup had a much larger impact on winning games that any other lineup we had all season.

The guy was extremely effective in his limited role in the most effective lineup our team used regularly last season.

Side Note: All of our worst lineups had Payton in them. That removal should improve our efficiency by itself.

You know I gonna spin wit it
