He's a slightly better player but Fournier is a better shooter, younger, and better fit. It's a toss-up to me.

what makes Fournier a better fit? He's Burks for twice the money. Look at his game log. He puts up so many games where he's just terrible and you arent getting anything else from him. Derozan gives you 7 assists and rebounds, he gets the line.

Just dive into his #s... he's really not good. He gets hot from downtown. Doesnt create. Doesnt get to the line. Doesnt attack the rim. Doesnt put pressure on the defense, sucks everywhere but from 3...

$18mm for a spot up shooter who doesnt do anything else will be first really lame move this FO has made. Thats your cap space plunge? Thats really lame

I agree

This is another one of scott perry's lukewarm moves, he didn't do jack sht for orlando, and didn't really help Boston, especially when Brown went Down.

This guy is plane D

Coming off of a 4seed playoff appearance with #1 available salary cap space? And we're walking away with "Evan Fournier"?!? Not even a top 50 NBA player?

I'm so pissed right now.

If this was till 2001, I would add Derozan. Issue is he is not very good from the range that is now the biggest difference in today's NBA. So why pay $20m plus for him?

As for Fournier, agree that he is inconsistent at times. Also agree that he is not worth $10m more than Bullock and definitely not $10m more than Burke. Still in the mindset that Burks and Bullock on team friendly deals are the best option. I would rather the Knicks save the $20m and use it towards a true difference maker.

I have always felt like free agency would be used to fill the roster with decent upgrades (like Fournier and Schroder or Jackson for example) and the major upgrades would come via trade. Punting another first round pick sort of tells me that too. You can't keep forgoing cap space because Randle, Mitch, Barrett etc need to eventually get paid, but kicking the can down the road with draft picks tells me they want the asset for future trades.

were the rules in 2001 different? Derozan's lack of a 3 is offset by his ability to put the ball on the floor and make you a play. You still need to outscore your opponent. All Derozan does it fill the stat sheet and win you games. I am not sure what Fournier does better than Burks or Bullock and they are bargain bin purchases.

I personally would like to spend the cap space on a player that helps us win games and maybe even something to build on. All this guy does is demand 30 mins a night for this price tag. I am praying this is just rumor

Supposedly that talks have stalled because EF agent wants a 4th year player option. Knicks quickly have shifted focus to resigning Alec burks and Noel … thank god!!

exactly. THIS THIS THIS

If our goal is to compete for a title WTF are we doing throwing cap space cash at Fournier who has no upside and is what he is has been for awhile?

Bringing back guys like Burks/Noel mean the staff likes them and there is something to be said for chemistry continuity for players who played well. But Fournier? Trying to see it... just cant see it

I honestly don’t see the Knicks giving him a 4th year player option let him go elsewhere and see if another team would even give him 15 a year

Burks over fornier at 8 mil less also hearing bullock has only gotten the mle for 3 years and burks and bullock are better then fornier at 18mil

Burks 10 mil
Bullock 8mil
Noel 10 mil
Rose 12 mil

That still gives the Knicks plenty to Add a nice piece to a team that finished 4th without messing with chemistry built from last year. And all those contracts are easily tradable .

much prefer this to Fournier. Keep drafting and building. Rose starts and Luka/McBride and maybe IQ fight for minutes at PG with RJ/Grimes at SG

Its last year's team which is fine because you are hoping for RJ/IQ/Obi/Mitch to level up and McBride/Grimes/Sims will bring a LOT of energy. A bit boring but its a good approach and the team was good. There's a lot to build on and we are super flexible

No upside, but 28 and seems committed to defense. Not a grand slam. But the contract needs to make sense. You would be adding +10 points from the same minutes but taking some shots from Randle/Barrett. Might open up the floor a bit for Barrett. I like Oubre more, but Oubre is asking for more on what he might be but hasn’t become yet. You would have to hope that he fixes his shot.

Fournier is a solid scorer. He is better than Burkes and Bullock, which is what we want, an upgrade. I would rather pay him $17.5 mil per year, but you got to pay to play. Hopefully, it is 3 year deal with a team option for the third year.

even if his shot is in the Spree zone the rest of the package is more to my liking. He DEF has another level to unlock. He's also got some warts but there is undeniable upside and I would love to challenge Thibs with some guys who can get better.

I dont expect Randle part II (that seems unreasonable) but I would like to try!
