well this thread was fun - where NYKMentality talked to himself

• Another Team USA Gold 🥇🏀🪙 Medal.

• Now 4 consecutive USA Gold Medals in a row.

• Now 16 USA Gold Medals All-Time.

• The Global 🌎 World still hasn't "caught up to American basketball" because we just sent out our C-Team with most of our best players sitting out and (STILL) won Gold.

This wasn't the 30 point blowout I was hoping for and expecting but nonetheless our team USA got the job done.

✓ And you mean to tell me that this was the "exciting brand of "tough" FIBA basketball" that everyone was telling me about? That crap was straight up *****cat ball. Soft European (flopping) basketball. USA couldn't touch them let alone look @ them wrong without being called for fouls before the European refs sent France to their little free throw line.

FIBA International Basketball is soft. It's absolute CRAP. And the worst "brand" of basketball I ever had to watch.

Thnx you team USA.

For showing the World (once again) that Americans are better than the World at their own crap brand of FIBA basketball.

At this point I hope in 2024 we send our NCAA College kids into the Summer Olympics because these Europeans can't fk with our American kids.

Either that or in 2024 send out our A+ USA roster in order to destroy every Country by 40-50+.

Thnx you team USA.

I'm french and I have absolutely no problem with the fact that the us team was the best on the floor and deserved to win but this kind of post does not make me want to engage in a discussion with you. Luckily, people like coach Popovitch show more class than you.

Regarding the FIBA basketball diatribe, you honestly prefer the constant flopping of Trae and Harden, constant double dribble of every players? The 15 steps before a layup of Lebron, the role players being whistled for a foul every time they even look at a star?
If FIBA basketball is soft, what should you say of the NBA no defense, we score 140 points/game era?
FIBA basketball is not perfect but neither is the NBA. You really should show a modicum of respect for the rest of basketball world.

lol

I was able to watch a few quarters here and there but don't have time, or energy sometimes, to post online has much as I would like. Durant, in my opinion, has taken the mantle from Lebron James has the best basketball player in the world. Dude has been amazing in the NBA and in the Olympics; and I truly believe that if he would have opted out of the Olympics, the USA team will not have been competing for a Gold medal.

Zach LaVine is another player that I was super impressed with during these Olympics. If this is the player that we are going to see in the upcoming season, I think the Bulls just may have leaped frog a lot of teams and into that Tier 1 group of Eastern teams.

as NYKMentality comment about the FIBA Basketball being soft, I have to disagree 100%. I actually felt this brand of Basketball is what we need here in the States. No flopping and throwing your body trying to draw contact. This was great!

And I don't think I realized that they only 10 minute quarters. Is that the time limit in all EuroLeagues? I kind of like the short time periods. It kept the sense urgency up.

FIBA basketball is not perfect but neither is the NBA. You really should show a modicum of respect for the rest of basketball world.

Well I personally hate FIBA basketball.

And I couldn't stand so many Europeans on another forum telling everyone how "the global world has caught up to American basketball" because it's disrespectful to say things like that when we just sent out our C- USA team without the likes of LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns (both and raised American), Zion Williamson, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and even Julius Randle etc.

So no. The world has not "caught up to American basketball" and even our USA girls are going to win their 7th Consecration Olympics Gold Medal tonight with 54 consecutive wins.

In closing. Just make sure you remember one thing as a Frenchmen before attempting to trash American and NBA basketball. Your own French players from France such as Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Nicolas Batum and Frank Ntilikina etc leave "FIBA basketball" and leave your own Country for both America and the NBA. And so do so many other European players from other Countries of Europe. Always remember that. And wake me up once you begin to see NBA Superstars leaving America and the NBA for European Countries and for "FIBA basketball".

You may take pride in FIBA basketball but I don't and you shouldn't expect other American born basketball fans to respect it either. I personally dislike FIBA basketball and glad I only have to watch it every other 4 years.

But yes. Congratulations on team France giving us our 1st loss in 17 years (game 1) and for beating Luka Donฤiฤ‡ and Slovenia during an epic game and also for giving team USA a run for it's money during the Olympics Gold Medal game. I 100% respect team France I just can't stand FIBA basketball.

No secret about it. I was rooting for Canada, Arentina and France. USA was fourth. Knicks come first!

Me too. I haven’t rooted for USA basketball since the 90’s. Bunch of spoiled divas on max contracts playing against the republic of Diarheastan that might have 1-2 nba players doesn’t do it for me

Spoiled divas? Most of our USA players come from the poverty stricken slums of America and basketball saved their lives as a childhood dream of theirs (instead of a life of crime).

As an American I will never root against our USA kids. Ever. I'd rather cut my own lips off before talking bad about our American born ball playing kids.

Our USA men's + our USA women's basketball teams are the GREATEST @ BASKETBALL IN THE WORLD and as as a father to a 10 year old daughter with a son on the way I'm super proud of our USA kids when it comes to basketball.

You think Kevin Durant grew up "spoiled"?

"Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C. to Wanda (nรฉe Durant) and Wayne Pratt. When Durant was an infant, his father deserted the family; Wanda and Wayne eventually divorced, and Durant's grandmother Barbara Davis helped raise him".

Kevin Durant grew up without a dad and was helped raised by his grandma. Basketball SAVED him but yet you're calling our USA kids spoiled?

That's sad man.

You rather root for Canadian kids? Canadian families born with sliver spoons and free healthcare? Over USA kids who 90% made it out of and survived the slums and ghettos of America poverty? And then call them "spoiled"? Yeah o.k man.

I'm born and raised on the South Side of Queens and grew up in poverty and I'll never root against our USA basketball players come the OLYMPICS (to me it sounds like you HATE them because they grew up poor but now have millions because of BASKETBALL).

"Spoiled".

Let me try to explain how. Let's say, in a very very hypothetical fantasy world ( please keep in mind we are strictly talking make believe here)

So in this world you have this competition. The competition is between JV High School basketball teams. And one team is just different in that its a National Varsity team composed of the top HS players in the Nation. And it's head and shoulders above all the others, it's got all the best HS prospects. Of course they should win. It's not very sportsman like. And it doesn't make for good games to watch. Simple as that.

Oh. Ok.

So you want to blame our AMERICAN KIDS for being the GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYERS WITHIN THE ENTIRE WORLD and hold it against them for it while also rooting against them because of it?

Nice to know.

Wake me up when the European Soccer Countries stop sending their greatest soccer players into the World Cup so team USA mens can dominate that too lol.

I have a great friend originally from Brazil. Takes so much pride in his Ronaldo and team Brazil and WOULD NEVER ROOT AGAINST HIS COUNTRY IN SOCCER ALL BECAUSE BRAZIL IS GREATNESS.

USA wanting to win Gold in BASKETBALL every 4 years isn't very sportsmen like? What a crock.

Lol I guess USA learned from all those poor sport European and South America Countries in soccer who dominated us since begining of time or the Russians in hockey. Is that what you're trying to tell me??????

Wake me up when European and South America Countries STOP SENDING THEIR GREATEST PLAYERS INTO THE FIFA WORLD CUP FOR SOCCER....

And then maybe I'll agree USA should do the same for Olympics basketball.

Wow. Just wow. Some Americans hate our own American basketball players/team and all because they're the greatest and even root against them because of it? Sad.

Wake me up when Brazil/Italy/Germany begin to let USA mens win in soccer by sending out their C-Team. Because our girls soccer historically speaking has been kicking their ass @ their own soccer game for many of years now.

Americans are just better in basketball than the world is in soccer. And I LOVE IT.

That's because we were all secretly rooting for France because of Frank and Fournier
No secret about it. I was rooting for Canada, Arentina and France. USA was fourth. Knicks come first!
Me too. I havent rooted for USA basketball since the 90s. Bunch of spoiled divas on max contracts playing against the republic of Diarheastan that might have 1-2 nba players doesn;t do it for me.

"Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C. to Wanda (Durant) and Wayne Pratt.

And then call them spoiled;? Yeah o.k man.

I'm born and raised on the South Side of Queens and grew up in poverty and I'll never root against our USA basketball players come the OLYMPICS (to me it sounds like you HATE them because they grew up poor but now have millions because of BASKETBALL).

Theyre not kids, they;re fully grown men and women, no ones asking you to root against them, people are just stating their personal preferences
True. I just don't understand how any born and raised American can ever root against team USA in the Olympics. for any reason. but hey to each our own right.

They're not kids FFS

And then maybe I'll agree USA should do the same for Olympics basketball.

Wow. Just wow. Some Americans hate our own American basketball players/team and all because they're the greatest and even root against them because of it? Sad.

Wake me up when Brazil/Italy/Germany begin to let USA mens win in soccer by sending out their C-Team. Because our girls soccer historically speaking has been kicking their ass @ their own soccer game for many of years now.

Americans are just better in basketball than the world is in soccer. And I LOVE IT.

They all came into the NBA as kids and developerd into awesome young men.

Please wake me up when the greatest European and South America Countries begin to stop sending their best players into the FIFA WORLD CUP and let's USA mens start to dominate their beloved sport of soccer. Ffs.

Once European and South America Countries stop sending their GREATEST SOCCER PLAYERS into the FIFA WORLD CUP then and only then can Americans talk to me about "unfair" and "no sportsmanship" in regards to the greatest basketball Country in the world.
