Funny how Knox is again in the Summer league. He should have established himself at this point, think he wants to check out his competition as he's slowly getting squeezed out and hopefully is working hard to become more a force of defense and aggressive on O.

Well of course.

Some fans seem to forget he was the youngest player drafted.

Fans also seem to forget he's only 21 years old.

I'm just scared about kids like Immanuel Quickley and R.J. Barrett getting injured during Summer Camp.

But fear aside....

C: Jericho Sims.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Quentin Grimes.
SG: R.J. Barrett.
PG: Immanuel Quickley.

Would be fun to watch however I'd rather see (during the summer league)....

C: Jericho Sims.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Kevin Knox.
SG: Quentin Grimes.
PG: Miles McBride.

That's the 5 I want to see come summer league because I personally don't believe either one of Immanuel Quickley/R.J. Barrett should be playing summer league basketball.

You don't think these guys play pickup like all the time? Or just maybe just do skill and pump iron with bubble wrap on? Any of you guys also harping on the fact that Randle should have made the Olympic squad?

What is this irrational fear about Summer League that you guys have? These players want to get better and also start some practices and whatnot with their teammates.

Injuries can happen at any time, so just put that aside.

I hope knox wants in to ****ing destroy anyone in his path to rise up and reset his trajectory.
We all are keen to offer our disappointment in him and how he should have been better. That does nothing.
He simply is under contract, likely working his ass off and I would imagine this is a chance to shine either for knicks or another team that would value him and give him an opportunity. If so he adds just a bit more value if he is a trade asset.
He is a knick, under contract, and why the hell who is a fan of the team think him improving is anything but a positive?
I get many did not want to draft him but cannot understand why any fan of the team would rather continue a dialog that can say “told you so” over just a kid succeeding after a tough start.
Also that RJ and Randle should want to work out and if anything put their scent in the room and establish leadership.
IQ is 20 years old and has a lot to work on. Damn right he should play and go after McBride in practice and visa versa!
That kid is gunning for his minutes.

This might be the only chance we get this season to see how IQ, Obi, Grimes and Simms look with a natural playmaker

That's awesome man. Can't wait to see this kid.

C: Jericho Sims.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Quentin Grimes.
SG: Miles McBride.
PG: Rokas Jokubaitis.

6th Man: Immanuel Quickley (let the other kids get more development).

This might be the most exciting Knicks summer league team I've ever been fired up about.

This has me so freaking fired up before playing next year in Europe.

And playing in an awesome Spaniard basketball League for I believe Barcelona is going to become A+ for this kids development before arriving for USA and into the NBA.

This kid can become the next European phenom PG and he absolutely abused LaMelo Ball 3 years ago....

This is a great development. Could indeed be the first step in his process to play for us. A good impression on him this summer could go a long way in him coming in a year or two to the NBA.

This was my petcat coming into the draft and wanted the Knicks to draft him so badly but the Knicks historically don't draft Euros. The one's that they do, seem to bust, Frank N, Fred Weis ...etc. This guy is different, a smart savy player that has a high BB IQ, makes shots, not the greatest athlete but makes up for it and then some with excelling at the small things like position, reading defenses, passing ...

Once you get to the NBA, age is no longer an excuse. You learn what it takes to succeed and you work on that. Knox it seems struggles with the same things he did when he came into the league, inconsistency and playing defense. He could look like an All-Star one game, then disappear for like 20 games. With his length and ability to shoot, he could be a game changer if he learned to take a more aggressive approach on offense and take defense more seriously.

Very excited to see Rokas play. He looks pretty slick in these vids - has a high BBall IQ. Half hoping he plays so great we keep him, but totally will help to get a look now and see how he does at Barcelona. With Vildoza + 4 draftees + Obi and Quick + Knox who has a lot to prove, you have a pretty intriguing summer league roster this year. I don't think Barrett needs to play, but if he wants to use this time to work on his pullups/step backs that could be fun.

Sarunas was quite strong physically, if I remember correctly...Joku has a different frame at this point.

What a steal it would be if he can approximate the level of play SM played at.

Me too and I'm glad R.J. Barrett isn't on it. Kid been putting in work all offseason.

C: Jericho Sims.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Quentin Grimes.
SG: Miles McBride.
PG: Rojas Jokubaitis.

6th man: Luca Vildoza.

7th man: Immanuel Quickley (been putting in work too).

8th man: Kevin Knox.

Really exciting summer league team and I'm expecting a #1 Championship because I've never been this fired up about a SUMMER LEAGUE squad!

Been watching some videos of Aamir Simms.

He is no stiff, and seems to do a lot of things well, though the videos rarely show extended defense, and specifically, his lateral movement on the perimeter.

Measured 6’7.5” barefoot, 6’8.5” in shoes 8’11.0” standing reach, 234.6 lbs, and 7’0.25” wingspan at the 2021 NBA G-League Elite Camp …

Decent wingspan, but might be undersized at the 4, and too slow to guard at the 3 in the NBA. One scouting report says he "struggles to guard quicker players."

Improved his 3pt shooting & was at 40% his last two seasons at Clemson.

The videos show that he has some moves in the post, and he seems to have legit NBA range on his 3pt stroke, which looks decent to me.

Nothing "special" or spectacular about him, but he seems to be able to do a little of everything, including pass the ball. He even got the scholar athlete award this year, for what it's worth.

I think his perimeter D will determine whether he finds a spot on the end of the bench, but if he can become adequate doing it, his all around game, especially if he's consistent from downtown, might allow him to stick around.

Scouting report from the G-League Elite Camp games:

Team Four’s Aamir Simms also played well in a loss to Team One. He showed off versatile scoring skills, and he shot the ball well especially from beyond the arc. Simms was able to knock down a couple of open, spot-up threes to showcase his shooting skills.

Plus, he also did a good job of scoring on strong, right-handed drives to the hoop, and he also managed to score on an acrobatic layup while getting an extra free throw once. Simms also managed to score on a roll to the rim. Simms struggled more to score in the post, as he had trouble scoring on turnaround jumpers when posting up.

He also generally passed the ball well. Simms was able to pass out of the post to find a cutter to notch an assist. He also was able to find a teammate on the break another time.

He also did a decent job of rebounding the basketball. He also played adequate defense. Simms was able to jump a pass to get a steal. He also contested a three to force a miss. On the other hand, he was overly physical when defending in the post once, which led him to commit the foul.

Overall, Aamir Simms had a solid tournament, and he generally excelled as a shooter and scorer at this event. Unfortunately, his team lost both games, and he looked to be overshadowed at times, as his unselfishness sometimes led him to fade into the background. Still, he is a skilled combo forward that can knock down jump shots, which could enable him to be an effective rotation player in the NBA someday.
