Naw...check out Butler's stats. He's had a better season, at least statistically, than Mitchell this year.
The numbers are close enough that if you factor in the fact that Utah has the best record in the league, something nobody predicted, and the Heat have underachieved, record-wise, Mitchell, in my opinion should edge out Butler.
If you go on Utah fan boards there are plenty of people who will say Gobert was the most valuable player on that team this year. There are also people who say the Conley's improvement over last season also played a big role. Miami has a .620 winning percentage when Jimmy is in the lineup, which is one pace for 50 wins in a normal season. They were 6-11 without him. Utah is 13-6 without Mitchell. (I got these number from Stat Muse.) You could make the case that Jimmy's performance on the Heat moved the needle for his team more than Mitchell did for his.
Gorbert and Conely have been huge for the Jazz, which are 2 big reasons why they have the best record in the league. It's a team game, and I'm not saying Spida is carrying the team by himself or that he should be the league MVP; I just think the best player on the best team who is putting the numbers that he is, should be All NBA.
As far as the numbers are concerned, you mention that the Jazz are 13-6 without Mitchell. But they are 39-14 with him which is damn good. Speaking of 13-6, 9 of those 13 wins are vs sub-500 teams. Houston 2xs, Sac-town 2xs, OKC 2xs, etc....
Butler is having a good year, no doubt. The Heat loss to some really good teams while he was out; nets 2xs, Clippers, Nuggs, Philly 2xs, Mil, Portland, Atlanta...etc.
Like I said, its close but if I had a vote, Spida would get mine....
