I am actually okay with the idea of landing Turner- definitely more so than Drummond. Don't like all this smoke about us being interested in C's, unless it's part of negotiations with Mitch's agents.

Both LA teams are hard capped and so ensconced in their respective rosters that it all but makes it impossible to trade for a player like Turner (a player like Drummond when he is bought out is obviously a bit different albeit still difficult). How does New Orleans even make sense when they already have Steven Adams and Zion, etc.?

With NY? They need to leverage Mitch a bit on his next contract and see what the market offers.

With Indiana? I'd guess that there is a fit thing with Turner and Sabonis? I'm guessing cause I don't follow the team. Also next year Doug McDermott and T.J. McConnell are UFA's and team is at $120M without them (I think they are part of the committed rotation?). I think Indiana is one of the more fiscally responsible (strapped?) teams out there. So maybe they want to offload a $18M contract for another low cost one in Mitch to balance out the salary sheet for another year?

Knicks would take on salary but would take on a good defensive player who actually has an offensive game while getting rid of a player who you can't place a finger on negotiation wise because you don't even know who his agent is this week.

IDK, that's just thinking out loud

The only reason I would see the FO making that move is that Turner would give us an elite shot blocker, like Mitch. But with only 2 years left on his deal, after this season. Give the FO continued cap flexibility. It would make sense if its part of a larger plan. Otherwise it seems like a lateral move, considering Mitch's progression this season.

If the FO decides they're trading Mitch, hope its for Lonzo. Not another big.

How well does a player like Mitch/Noel with a jumpshot fit with Randle?

I think they may have big concerns about Mitch's maturity, especially once he gets paid. I think Turner has some warts but also some upside as well, especially on offense. He's 24 and you if trade for Turner he's a really nice piece locked in for a good price.

I love Mitch and he's already really good and really makes the team better. If given the choice he would be part of the long term plan, but if he's out of shape and injury prone it doesnt really help us.

Turner at 24 could be a really nice piece next to Randle on both sides of the ball. I am sure if the FO goes that route the have done their homework in terms of cost.

What is it was Obi/Mitch/Detroit #2 rounder? Feels pricey to me. Really it comes down to the FO's belief in Mitch after he gets paid.

Seem to be fitting fine. But if one of the arguments for the Pacers trading Turner is because his style clashes with Sabonis, how would that change with Randle? Sabonis and Randle operate similarly. I'm not sure if that's really a thing, but I've seen it throw around and I'm not sure I buy it unless it's an off the court thing.

this is the image. Turner isnt shooting the 3 well this year but his career is right around league average. He's also very good around the rim. His over all defense is OK at best. He's not a great 1on1 defender against good scoring bigs, I guess most arent but Turner isnt impressive. The shot blocking is great and would fit well with Randle's great work on the defensive glass. Turner can spread the floor both for Randle, RJ and our guards.

Lonzo’ s definitely my number one hope- not only does he fill a need now, but he allows us to stay flexible building forward as we can move him to SG and draft a PG, or have him at PG and draft a SG, plus he’d be a great complement in the backcourt with IQ, and can play alongside Rose (he’s had lots of experience playing next to Holiday and also Bledsoe)

I would say it's only one of the arguments and one that Indiana has not solved (if indeed it's even a relevant argument) but perhaps the Knicks have better ideas on it. No 2 players are exactly alike and certainly the offenses Indiana and Knicks run may not even be similar or perhaps the situations on both teams for said players are completely different. Neither of us follow the Pacers so maybe we can both throw the hands up on that one?

I have been considering whether I would trade Mitchell Robinson straight up for Myles Turner using our cap space to cover the salary differential.

Myles Turner is certainly further along in his development at 24 years. Mitch costs much less and still has upsize. Myles brings a bit more offensive game than Mitch. I don't think both would co-exist well on the same team so it makes sense to choose between the two to a large degree unless you felt you could get Myles for less and retain the bargaining chip.

Unclear to me why Myles Turner would not be able to co-exist with Sabonis but would be able to co-exist with Randall. Not identical games by any means, but I have to imagine Myles' offense wants to use the same real estate as Randle and Sabonis.

Kind of have to drill deep on Robinson vs Turner to see how their hustle stats otherwise line up.

I don’t know what to think of all these trade rumors except it’s a kind of pressure on Mitchell because some talks about a new contract have certainly already taken place and I would say he's asking for a lot more than people here think he will get. I really don’t see another reason.

Mitchell is the perfect center for Thibs, and if the FO wants to make a move, isn’t it more logical to bring in a passing PG or a 3&D winger?

there's an article saying NOP wont match anything >$18mm as they are **** scared of luxury tax. Knicks could just put a big offer out there and sign him.

I assume Rose returns on a MLE type deal, but big money to Lonzo might cost you resigning Noel. Not sure Ball is worth that... OR he could be the next buy low Julius Randle type of deal. He's a good kid and hard working and likable teammate. If it just money and he IS really good and on the ups its a great signing. Excited to see what the FO does.

Turner is not as athletic as Mitch and is not as good a defender. Its not gonna be an even swap there, I think Mitch is easily the better defensive player, probably by a lot. Dont let the block fool you. Mitch does crazy **** on D that Turner cant. BUT Turner is a good pro and has a much better offensive skill set. I am only looking to do this if they have concerns about Mitch's maturity. He was not in great shape this year despite playing much better. He was jelly legged late in games before getting hurt. Love Mitch and he's signed crazy cheap next year. NOT moving him gives us the most team building options now. We can always go over the cap to pay him. If they like Mitch this is stupid. Point is to procure players using the cap when guy have a handful of guys in rookie deals like IQ/RJ/Mitch/Obi etc

$18M would perfect. Anything over $20M is a no go for me. Randle did show more upside when we signed him. I'm still not sure what Lonzo's prime upside is. I know I've been down on these guys, but if I had to choose Trent or Fournier at somewhere between $15M-$20M or Ball at $20M<, I'd say Trent and Fournier look like more attractive options.
