this is one of the crazier suggestions i've seen in a while

1) mitch is career 70% fg. i;ve made this point before, if you were chucking 3 pointers you have to hit 46% to match that. I say this because it shows the impact
2) mitch spaces the floor in other ways. Anytime the opposing defender leaves him, e.g., to double someone, he punishes them. That is spacing too. It keeps the opposing center pinned to him. He has great hands, feet and body control
3) he anchors the defense and can hold his own on the perimeter, swtiches etc.
4) he has improved every year, and this year in particular announcers and coach absolutely love him. ANy stat (other than FT%) that he's down on is essentially by design to keep him on the floor more

If the KNicks were smart, they would show him some love right now, and not fully leverage and exploit the sweetheart contract to the hilt. He and everyone else knows he's playing way beyond his contract. At this point in his career the extra $$ matters more. They should show him some love and keep him in the fold

As Martin said, our priorities should be elsewhere. We don't need a C who needs the ball to be effective.

Its not a crazy suggestion at all. Its a fans impulsive response to what he sees.
Briggs does it with a confidence that requires no accountability. Until the knicks are successful fans suggestions contrast different to the reality that exists.
Then we watch video highlights with college players and superimpose to project a great outcome.
Is simple until reality hits. Iggy Bratz can light up Gleague but looks out of place in the NBA. Big disparity in college to pro. Gleague to pro.
This shyt is not easy. But with the benefit of hindsight we know better and the lack of accountability our mistakes are not apparent.
We see the games thru TV and its announcers. 14 man roster and dozens of FO/Staff/coaches all having ascended to this level for us to second guess and vomit suggestions. Its a lovely activity.

You don't give up on a potential first team defensive C this early for a bench bro.

I agree Martin. Where does briggs come up with these ideas?? Mitch just needs a 12 ft jumper and that can be taught. All players want to shoot but not all players want to play defense. Mitch is an anomaly

We have two defensive C— we need 1. Hrs also a spacer which Mitch is not. His defense abs rebounding is good

Mitch not being a spacer should never be a reason to throw out there as a reason to trade him. He has all defensive team potential and he took a big step in that direction this year. He absolutely needs to add more offense to his game. So the question is: Can he?

The Knicks have 1 starting level defensive player and a back up guy. If you wanted to trade Naz Reid for Nerlens, then we can have that talk cause those 2 players are more in line with one another value wise to the teams.

For me, I sit tight and think about giving Richaun Holmes an offer next year if Noel is not your cup of tea. Or sign Daniel Theis away from Boston.

Again, the C position is not the spacing problems. It's PG and an upgraded wing guy. You are trading the wrong person.

It's weird.... if the Knicks had one of the best offenses in the league, would you trade their most important offensive player for a nobody? Cause that's inline with what you are doing here

IMHO we should lock up mitch right now for 5 years. Last year his big problem was that he would get in foul trouble, but HES LEARNED!! I am convinced he will develope a little 12 to 15 foot jumper.

In 53 NBA games over two years The 21 YO Reid is avg per 36 minutes

20 points 8.5 rebounds 2 blocks 2 assists 1 steal. who can play inside and out from the 5 position.

That is a team changing player who will also improve.

Fine! I'll call Leon and let him know it's time for Mitch to pack his bags.

I share your appreciation for Naz. I saw him play one game in March madness, and I saw a big man who just seemed to have a grace and gift about him. If I recall, he was not drafted?

I don't know if Minny would entertain trading him. We've seen players here in NY look great, and then go to a better team and disappear out of the league.

I'd start with Frank & the Piston's 2nd rounder, and if you really like him- I'm not there because I watched him 2 years ago for 20 minutes!- I'd upgrade the pick to the lower of ours or Dallas. We don't need multiple picks, we need to upgrade the talent.

Yeah you do need multiple picks. I don't know enough about Naz but his small sample size is, well, small. And if he is so good, Minny won't trade him.

This draft is about 5 deep for upper end talent and then that second tier - and I literally don't know so I'm guessing - is another 3-4?

If the Knicks have say #9 and #17 and then #31... you want them all to try to trade up or maybe you think there are multiple guys in the first 19 picks that would be targets. You keep the picks unless you have a definitive target player.
