While the Payton cry hasn't changed, Randle has dramatically changed his game this season to the point of justifying a change in the long-term rebuilding plan. So this is a post about a scenario where we not only keep Randle past next season, but make him one of our centerpieces. But this team certainly needs another main piece. In a perfect world, Randle is the star #2 and RJ is the solid #3 to be the main leaders.

So, considering Randle's game as a Point -Forward who can shoot from anywhere and rebound with the best, who is the best guy to complement him considering not only his game but also his age? Randle is a young veteran still in his 20's.

Trade for Otto Porter. Giving away picks for Rose was stupid bcause we could of got someone better

The pick that'll be a second rounder in the 40's?

Yep, Rose is not worth a positive asset. He is a negative sum player

So who are you getting better by trading that pick?

Exactly....plus, we have frank. payton, rivers type players on short term salaries and perfect trade bait for a better pick. Remember what the FO did with that trade down trade up strategy....I can see that happening again with the next trade. So not worried about losing that pick. But warming up to rose coming back....on and off the court mentorship. Plus they probably tired of IQ being so buddy buddy with every star player....and would like someone thats a better mentor for him in house...and will be around for a few years. Payton seems more reserved...I could be wrong....but we know hes gone soon. Smart move...someone thibs can yank in and out of lineup with no back talk. Gives him roster flexibility...when its players he knows and they know him.

I don’t think your perception is supported by the facts or stats. He is an older player now, but has been putting up 14 and 4 in 22 minutes for Det. And I think Thibs will get the best out of him.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Rose seems to have improved as a passer and slightly as an outside shooter since he was here last. And I think he suits his role as a 6th man type. I would just feel better about this move if Payton wasn't still here, but maybe he will be moved still. I'd like to move Payton and keep Rivers due to his shooting, defense, and ability to help at 2 positions. Thibs has always seemed comfortable without a pure PG. Quickley, Rose, and Rivers will work.

Booker vs. Zach? Why is Books numbers down?
His win total is up! Suns are rather decent. They have the pieces and they are still putting it together.
What these teams are now after 25 games vs. where they go the next 50 or so will be very different. Including Knicks.
Perhaps it is Thibs task mastering obsessive efforts that got us off to an unexpected good start. Other teams will find their groove or injuries will decimate them.
That Thibs tapped into a rotation fast might not such a big topic but think about how often we change coaches and how long it took some to find the “right line up”. I find little IN REASON to second guess Thibs. This team on paper has a better record than I thought they could.

Bottom line is I have a lot of confidence that Thibs has what compliments Randle in place. Why? His all star better than KP numbers! As fans we can sit here and say “Yes, but we can do better”!!!!! Conceptually always can do better.
Bullock compliments Randle. Maybe even Payton more than IQ at this stage. IQ has to learn much and Randle also needed to shift back and forth from no. 1 option to letting the team fly without him in spurts. This is not unique to Randle exclusively but all players as they move up the food chain. Randle also has his agent in his ear with the in prime career muliti generational wealth contract he can almost taste within reach! This is all a good thing BTW!
Knicks have a long way to go still but I’m digging it!
