I said if we didn’t do anything to upgrade the PG position, it was borderline GM mismanagement.

And what exactly did we do? Retain Payton, add Rivers, draft a combo guard.

Our biggest need was for someone to run the team offense, and we have yet to address that in a meaningful way.

Langston Galloway would have counted as an upgrade, in my book at least.

Were we rumored to be in the hunt for FVV?

No, for some reason, we wanted a broken down PF/SF age thirty, upwards of $30M per year for 2 years (Hayward.)

Someone correct me, but am I to expect this team to finish any better than last years? I mean, 20-30 wins is about where this team will finish, if that, considering they may not get 82 games to try.

Maybe they play harder with Thibodeau.

Obi is nice, but really, how much is he going to move the needle over what we got from Portis?

Does anyone here not smoking crack think DSjr or Frank are suddenly going to pop and turn into serviceable PGs?

Biggest need by far was PG, and this FO came up with a giant pile of p00.

I still believe in FIBA Frank and I like that Quickley dude. Quickley May turn out to be another Kentucky player that proves to be much better in the pros than he was in college. Westbrook and Paul had contracts that were not worth taking on. FVV wants to stay in Toronto and the other available pgs were not long-term solutions. We just have to continue to develop at this point.

Hasn't Batum's contract been stretched by Charlotte? Wouldn't that mean he'd be available for a vet minimum?

This aint Fiba! Believe Frank has to start getting buckets, or he's going to be asked to play another position. Believe DSJr has to show a legit game, or he's going to bounce around the League like Trey Burke. Until he figures things out.

Still a possibility we get Westbrook. Fertita might say F it and give Westbrook to us in a salary dump after trading Harden to the nets for Dinwiddie, Allen and picks. Rockets aren’t winning anything with those and they now hate the owner

You are going to see a lot of this. Barrett’s biggest strength is as a facilitator on offense

Nope. The announcements of trades and signings is just part 1, execution of those deals is always delayed and often change just slightly

Gordon Hayward signing was announced but he has not literally signed a contract

Unless Westbrook comes super cheap with favorable picks, he is a pass. Though him and Toppin and Mitch would be some show, like lob city was.

Better options

#1 Trade for Lonzo or Bledsoe, they have a glut of PGs there with Kira in the mix, one should be available and maybe at a discounted price. I'm fine with either.

#2 Isaiah Thomas, word is he looks back to form. He would be a cheap contract (maybe league min) since no one else is biting and on a 1 year deal what's the harm? Throw him in the mix and see who wants the position the most.

Either options makes this team a notch better IMO. Your thoughts?

I would love to get Lonzo. His 3 point shooting has improved every year. He is the type of pass first PG that would get everyone involved. We have all these young players and we have the worst collection of PG's in the NBA. How the hell are they going to get better with the crap we have bringing up the ball

While people are saying we did not draft a PG, I want to remind people that Quickley was a full time pg in high school and averaged about 7 assists a game. “Quickley averaged 23.7 points and 7.2 assists per game as a junior and was named to the First Team All-Metro. Coming into his senior year, Quickley shot 41 percent from behind the arc on the Adidas AAU circuit. Quickley was named the MVP of his high school team after scoring 19 points in a 71–58 loss to Hudson Catholic High School in the HoopHall Classic as a senior. He posted 20.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.7 steals per game as a senior and led the team to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title.”

I hope we stick with a point guard rotation of Frank, Quickley and DSJ. I would like for Frank to be able to secure the starting point guard position but i see him spending time at the shooting Guard spot together with quickley at the point with DSJ becoming the 3rd string point guard of the team unless his shooting drastically improves as well.

Don’t know who will shake out as our lead guard but am pretty sure Rhondo will be brought in next year to tutor him.

Pre-Calipari, I think.

I am been trying to watch everything I can of Quickley since he has been drafted. This kid is really an amazing shooter. He is a Devin Booker level type shooter. Plus, this kid really may have the pg skills to run a team. He was forced to play shooting guard in college but he played pg in high school and signed with Kentucky originally to play pg. Knicks may have just gotten the steal of the draft with this kid. The way the kid moves on offense reminds me of Ray Allen. He really knows have to move to create open space for his shots before the ball even gets to him.

I hope the Knicks bring him along slowly and then exploit his latent passing ability ala Bam Adebayo. Use his strengths in shooting the first year or so and maybe put him next to Frank off bench.

Next year is the year for the upper level PGs

I agree. His role this year should be as a bench scorer and spot up shooter. But they definitely should start developing his pg skills later in the season to give him some tape on what to work on in the summer next year. I don’t know if he can be a pg, but if he can, with his shooting, he might turn into a legit starting point for us in the Terry Porter or Chauncey Billips type mold.

#2 is an interesting thought.
