It’s a little surprising" one NBA executive said. “You can make the argument they got worse.” - NY Post

Leaving future draft picks aside...

... do you think the team that takes the court in 2020-2021 is better or worse than last year's squad?

We have not visibly improved, but that is just fine. We also did not make any stupid mega trades or mega signings for marginal talent that could hobble us going forward, and to me that is a huge plus in our offseason. This was not the year to make a splash with FAs, so there is no disappointment around KD, KI, KT or KL not coming to NY.

Perry's logic of developing own talent and keeping your gunpowder dry in case we get a shot at a major star seems to be continuing, and I like that.

Of course, there is still that chance of a last-second bonehead signing a la Timmy Jr., but I hope we avoid it this time around.

A lot of people think the knicks are among the bottom in the league once more, no one stops to consider the effect of the new player development and defense driven coaching staff. I think this roster got more shooters and defensive players. If everyone buys in to what coach thibs wants to do, i think this roster will surprise many!

Let them think whatever. Bunch of fair weather c0cksuckers. Knicks are doing the right thing building through the draft taking talented high character players trying to build a culture

I’m not going to jump off a bridge because we didn’t sign Fred Van Vleet or give an insane contract to Gordon Heyward

I'm behind this thinking.

No idea if the Knicks record will be better than last year but the organization has moved forward

I think we have the worst roster in the league. We need some luck. Hopefully the Ping Pong balls finally go our way

I think we're about the same. The pieces fit slightly better, though a lot of work needs to be done. Healthy Bullock, Burks over Wayne Ellington, Rivers could get hot and steal a game, RJ should be better, the (hopeful) elimination of Randle...We lose Portis, but Spellman could easily replace his offensive production. And we'll have much better coaching. I see the Knicks reaching low 30s, which is the same pace Miller has them at.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

Last season this roster played way better under Mike Miller than it did during that horrible first 23 games of the season with Fizdale who really was a horrible coach

Thibs is similar to Miller. I think that plus the young talent on the roster helps. They gotta keep guys like DSJ and Knox out of the rotation

finally got around to putting this in the right thread.

maybe......but i am good with it this year. we have one of the youngest rosters in the league so it will be a struggle. not many vets who can mentor like morris and gibson last year so it is showtime for the young guns and they will have their bumps. thibs will spend this year teaching a great foundation and it will take time. however, this is the year to be bad because of this upcoming draft so im fine. we wont get any great free agents next year because we are bad so get some draft capital and look to trade a disgruntled star next year which will happen.

First let me say that this FO made a number of moves that were esoteric and a bit self-centered. This is just the way the world works. So my analysis is not so much about questioning their moves but on comparing the consequences.

First if I had my druthers I would have resigned Dot instead of signing Burks. The team loses some chemistry and long-term upside. In terms of one year impact, I think Burks is a better tank mechanic and will satisfy the self-fulfilling destiny.

Second, as a fan, I suffer from some player burnout fatigue. WTF are Randall and DSJ doing here? We can lose without them and losing with them is soooo excruciating that its just cruel, even in a shortened season, to dance this dance - one. more. time.

I'm a Thibs fan. His family lived a few doors down the street from me when we were in elementary school. But Miller was a truly fine coach given the steaming remains of the LBJ inspired Fizdale's debacle. Miller doesn't have the record of Thibs but the upgrade is a close one - two fine coaches. Sad that Miller is not still onboard.

I don't buy the Frankie criticism which is largely that all the mainstream winning teams have a PG profile that Frankie doesn't fit. IMO winning is what opens the NBA eyes to other patterns of playing the game. My personal fan fatigue is that Frankie wins the job over and over again and the mofos just refuse to acknowledge that he's talented, different, and on a trajectory to be a very, very good player.

If the roster as a whole is better its a proof that requires some pudding. We'll see but I may no longer watch. I can't take another season of tanking - keeping games close until the final 2 minutes - Randall showtime... ugh. I just can't do that even in a short season.
