Barrett is 19 and was in a bad situation. You put Ja here with half court players that can’t shoot and will get a similar result. The reality is Barrett wasn’t viewed as a marginal prospect prior to being drafted by the Knicks. He was the consensus #1 pick before Zion and Ja took off and would be the #1 pick in this draft based on success at Duke.

I think Ja would have made us a far better team than what RJ's impact was. I don't think RJ would have performed any better joining the Grizzlies instead of NY.

JA is simply a far better talent, and there is no reason to pretend otherwise.

We had all the assets to move up and thats why Mills goes down (IMO) as the worst GM/Pres in the HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE. Simply because he had more to work with then any other president ever (cap space, high draft picks) and a young all star building block in KP... every move he made was LAME, not a single impressive move at all

Lead us to the playoffs, RJ. Fuck the little rookie douche awards.

Want to have the team piss on the media who's pissing on the Knicks? Win games.

I doubt Tyler Herro GAF who's on the list.

thanks for sharing that... honestly, I would rather that tweet/those stats than a an all rookie team. THJ won the award for us and I would rather have RJ as I think we all would

Those awards arent given out until after the playoffs.

Barrett is the definition of a blue collar player. And he's on a crappy team. Those awards usually go to more dynamic rookies.

Just glad RJ doesnt look like the wrong pick at 3. Glad the front office didnt try to get cute with the pick. Hope RJ breaks the rookie contract curse if Frank doesnt.

Ja is the only real superstar from that draft. Zion is already on a minutes restriction at the old age of 19. There were no other options at 3. I was not impressed at all with Darius Garland in Cleveland

I think RJ ends up a good to very good player for us. The writers are all haters

Even if you were disappointed with his playas a #3 pick (and frankly i was not considering his age, his role and context) I don't see how anyone can think COby, PJ or Rui deserved their nod over RJ

The KNicks players should boycott the media. It has become too high fashion for the media to **** on the Knicks 24/7

Yes they're allowed to express their opinions about the players, but it's high time the Knicks players expressed their opinion about the media.

He would have made my first team. Kid played with poise and desire. He needs to work on his FT and shooting, but everyone on that list has flaws. I'm looking forward to watching him for a long time, hopefully as a 2 playing his bully ball style

This.

I’m not sure why sports writers hate the knicks so much but that’s fine most of those hacks now qualify for welfare

What the awards do say though is that this was a pretty deep draft - 10 other rookies that writers thought had a greater impact. It doesn't mean they've got better upside.

In spite of what the awards say, I think RJ still has the makings of a top-3 player in the draft.

Do you know if either were receptive to make a deal?
Do you even have any clue to if any calls were made to Memphis or you just pretending again?

The bottom line numbers are not good 40%fg 32%3pt and 61%FT and his team in the lottery.

You think he should be rewarded for that effort?

Its also pretty dam ridiculous that zion played in just 24 games and was selected

I guessi rebounds and steals dont count in the voting. RJ was top 5 in both stats among rookies along with his other stats. The fact that Zion was first team playing just 19 games plus 5 in the bubble post COVIDo makes this entire vote a farce.

A 19 year old averaging 14 and 5 is pretty good and worthy of all rookie team.

RJ has been getting crap since the Knicks drafted him. Many of the people who voted were the same people who were jocking Jarret Culver and saying the Knicks screwed the draft up. It doesn't matter in the long run. Say what you want about RJ, but I guarantee you his using this as motivation.

It’s nonsense. Sportswriters hating on RJ because he plays for the Knicks if he has the same exact season playing for the Spurs he finishes second in ROY voting

RJ is as sharp and strong as they come. His dad is a great guy. He will absolutely use this to motivate him in OTAs which are going on now

Damn these writers.

No disrespect to these others who made the list - after all of the hype of this being a 3 player draft, 2019's draft turned out to be quite deep - one of the more impressive classes so far based on rookie year's alone.

The really interesting guys that I hadn't expected were 1st teamers Paschall and Clarke, and 2nd teamers PJ Washington and Terrence Davis II. Davis II was surprisingly on a lot of people's minds considering he only played 16.8mpg!

It's almost as if the writers forgot about RJ. He was about as hot as any rookie leading up to the pandemic stoppage of play and the Knicks were actually winning some games.

Fun fact: RJ has almost identical numbers to fellow Duke alum Jayson Tatum in his rookie year

And I use the words “almost identical” because RJ’s numbers are actually better.
