You complimented Mitchell's wingspan. I am fascinated by this metric, as many surprise success stories in the NBA have unusually wide wingspan. True, there have been busts too, even our own Frank was drafted in no small part thanks to his great wingspan. But that would be a useful tiebreaker.

I wonder how do wingspans for Okoro, Vassell and Neismith compare?

Michael Porter Jr said this the other night, and he has a 7' wingspan. I think it sums it up why wingspan matters (as does Kawhi's finger block):

I have a pretty high release, so I don’t really know what it looks like on TV, but it doesn’t feel like they have a hand in my face,” he said. “They feel like open shots.”

reach is super important for so many things especially on defense. IMO it's a far more important measure than height. Most rebounds are still under the height of the rim FWIW.

Reggie Jackson pg supposedly has a 7' reach. he might be someone btw we may want to target

Yeah, but so are things like strength and lateral quickness. Vassel has a good wingspan, but he struggles finishing at the time and defending the point of attack. These are all things to consider.

agree 100%. I was just trying to make the point of it being a better measurement than height in my book. Another is vertical leap. It's typical measured in a very calm setting with a guy have a full approach arm swing etc. Makes sense for volleyball but other than slam dunk contest that's not the way bball players jump. Im much more interested in how quick the guy can get off the floor, how he carves out space, and his nose for the ball -- where you largely only have the eyeball test

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that wingspan is the end all be all. What I think what everyone is trying to say is that when you are elevating a pretty decent prospect, when you also see that prospect has a long wingspan it is a win.

Look at our team. Frank has a wingspan of 7’1”... I think he’s underperforming his contract IMO but I think it would be foolish to give up on him especially after showing some glimpses and swag last season

Kevin Knox is long as hell but that isn’t enough when your motor barely hums

But if you can ball and are long there is only so much your opponent can do against you defensively, and you make the guy you defend work harder
