Wiggins made some comments a while ago that implied his frustration, talking about how his #s were on their way up over his first 3 seasons, then dipped and seem to blame them on changes on the team. You might argue that they happened as KAT took on a bigger role. Anyway, people assumed he had issues with Thibs.

Then articles like this started popping up, insinuating a lovefest and mutual respect between them, after Thibs visited the Warriors after the trade. Kerr was interviewed recently about Thibs and getting his gig in NY:

Wiggins already told Kerr he loved playing for Thibodeau, disrupting a narrative that has partly smeared his otherwise sterling reputation.

“We had just traded for Andrew Wiggins and he was really helpful,’’ Kerr told The Post in a phone interview Saturday from his home in San Diego. “I had a long conversation with [Thibodeau] about Andrew. He gave me some good advice on ways to connect with Andrew, how much he enjoyed coaching him and why. We’ve gotten to know each other over the years. [Thibodeau has] been very helpful to us.”

“He showed some X’s and O’s and went over some actions they ran for [Wiggins],” Kerr recalled. “Some of the things they were trying to do. The thing with Tom is he’s a workaholic, loves the X’s and O’s, loves breaking down film and takes great joy in it. Our staff values his opinion.’’

“What is apparent is he and Andrew had a great relationship and Andrew said that as well. I know Andrew told me he really enjoyed playing for him and appreciated his commitment. When a coach knows his stuff and gets along with his players, he’s got a great chance to succeed. I think Tom’s got a great shot."

Hayward would be a much better fit than Wiggins for the Warriors plus they dump Wiggins contract and can either re-sign Hayward or let him walk if they need to clear salary after a season. Boston dump Haywards salary and maybe frees them to go for Joe Harris, or some other shooter or C in free agency. Knicks could then draft LaMelo, Okongwu (to replace Mitch) and would have Wiggins as SF. Yuck!

it doesn't

Thought they could free up $20mil if the cut Theis too? If the cap is kept roughly the same (I could be wrong!)

They are at ~$140M with Hayward and Theis and those 2 guys make $40M combined. Cap will be ~$109m. Plus all their picks.

Why are they cutting 2 starters for small cap usage?

You don't cut your starting C and a pretty good shooter.... to go find another shooter and C?

Ah, the site I was using had them on $123mil salary. If I were them I’d just keep Hayward another season, but someone said they might want to move him and replace him with someone who doesn’t get injured so often (especially if the have no plans to re-sign him after next season)
