![]() Since he came up in another thread, if you HAD to have a Ball brother, which one would you prefer? Lonzo or LaMelo?
Lonzo's absolutely the surer thing - he's already in the NBA and is already putting up numbers. We know he needs to improve his shot. A LOT. But what prevents him from being close to as effective as, let's say... Ben Simmons? LaMelo moves more like an athletic wing with more east west wiggle while Lonzo looks like more of a north-south guy (he's been able to produce) and you have to think LaMelo has more upside. I'm most worried about his potentially lower floor - he may not have faced quality competition for us to measure his worth, and he hasn't gone through the same gauntlet most NBA players go through (working through the high school & college ranks along with the human experiences that go with them - going to classes, coached to speak to the media and conduct himself in public, dealing with pressure). Sure his family experience, experience abroad is something, it's just unique. My biggest concern about LaMelo is that I worry that we may be seeing Dante Exum all over again. (2014 Draft, #5 overall pick by Utah) Scouts drooled over Exum's exceptional bball IQ combined with his physical attributes. Second coming of Penny Hardaway. But alas, like Penny, he suffered an ACL tear early and hasn't been able to establish himself as more than a 15mpg role player. But back to Ball vs Ball. Lonzo is imminently more available to us via trade, esp if Zion isn't feeling him. LaMelo - we'll have to see where the ping pong balls fall. “That was two, two from the heart.” - John Starks

I like the idea of Lonzo Ball if he can be acquired cheaply, but I'm just desperate for a starting quality PG to help make the game easier for the coach and our young players. Without one it seems like they're set up to fail every year. This offseason, please just leave us with shooters and a point guard, we need them desperately. |

![]() Ball was a CAA/Leon client. I trust Leon either jumps on an opportunity or stays clear of one.
