With the pandemic hitting small market teams, I don't see them resigning Gallo tbh and go for a rebuild.

I'd trade them Randle, DSJ, ellington's expiring contract and cash for CP3.

CP3 isnt just another old guy. He's an elite PG and floor general and that is what makes him desirable. Last time we did it was with Kidd and it resulted in our best season in 20 years. Agree with above trade, although I dont think they take Randle if we dont include a (protected) pick. It would have to be Portis as I believe they can do this and not pick up his option making him a FA and saving OKC a fortune. I would do either trade.

Looks like RJ/Frank/Knox/Mitch are the young guys they view as core pieces. Add another lottery pick this year. I cant think of a better way to accelerate the growth of young players like this than to get them a real coach (Thibs or Atkinson will do) and a real PG/floor general.

Honest question- what if next season doesn't go ahead or is severely disrupted would you still think trading for him now was the right move?

Yes. We don't give up assets(randle and DSJ), if it is a short season with no travel, like the orlando bubble, it will mean more time for him to rest and get treatment.

But you destroy your flexibility to take on contracts for assets AND hinder your ability to sign longer term free agents in 2020 offseason and the 2021 offseason- for essentially no benefit if next season doesn't happen!

I like Paul as a mentor but not at his salary. If it was just 1 year, I might take him on, but again, I would give up ZERO assets.

Now, do they give up assets to take on his contract? That makes sense.

Lol we had cap space for 2 max cats last summer, did we get consideration or was atleast a frontrunner for any of them?

These kids grew up to the drama of Marbury, eddy curry and isiah Thomas, the allure of New York ain't there anymore. We need to show that what happens when you win or shoe hope, NY will rally behind you. The kids need guidance, RJ might want out like KP6 if he is on the verge to his 4th head coach in his 3rd season.

So you want to do what MILLs did and wait around for some star player to request a trade?

CP3 can always be traded in the last yr of his contract or take a buy out..Remember he is a CAA client
