I'd sign Q-Wood in an instant, the kids got upside. He put up 50 pts once in the summer league (yah i know it's the summer league) a couple of seasons back and had Portland fans waiting in anticipation for a breakout season that never came. Bottom line is the kids a low risk signing, do good and he'll ease out Penny from the rotation making Penny a tradable commodity, flop and he'll get cut. If he gets cut by the Jailblazers, he'll be in the last chance saloon, thing like that might change his attitude u never know.

He's actually only one year younger than DerMarr. I assumed Qyntel was younger than that. I haven't seen Qyntel play much, but from what I do know about him, I'd have preferred to keep DerMarr (although I probably wouldn't have used a roster spot on either player).

we were trying to sign rodney white to a 1mm$ contract--we could get him for peanuts if he is waived. is he worth a roster spot? well he is a MUCH better talent than any of the crp at the end of our roster--hes 6-9 and can play 2 guard. Hes not built like Johnson and is very good on the break and can rebound the ball. hes 6-9 230 and athletic with skills. do you keep a bruno sundov or ming bateer--NO or brewer who doesnt have CBA offensive skills? moochie???stinks this kid is what 22-23? its a no-brainer--if it doesnt workout so what we loss nothing.

I agree briggs, and whoever wants to include ariza in a trade for him needs to cut it out, why would you do that? I would just straight up sign woods and let him develop on the bench, what do you have to lose, but you have everything to gain, I mean in 2 or 3 years, you can have a team of marbs, craw, ariza, woods, sweetney, naz, that is a lot of young talent... I say do it IT..

I agree with Briggs and tkf.

Sign Rodney White, sign Qyntel Woods, why not? These guys are potentially going to be All-Stars or at least good players. Not signing them to keep guys like Bateer is a bad decision for your franchise.

Anyone who even wants to think of trading Ariza is insane.

Ditto on Ariza, and I want to sign Woods.

According to this link, White is signed:

The Qyntel/Ruben for Shandon trade sounds good, but where's our roster space?

BTW, Ariza's not getting traded- he's being groomed for the NYK future (with good reason).

So many good players, so little roster space!

its not a no brainer. If this kid is trouble it can become a distraction worth avoiding. We have a lot of talent at that position and a coaching staff in love w/ Ariza and what he's bringing. Why bother with a total pot head/ criminal that thinks his basketball card is valid ID?

Couldn't agree more, especially with how much Ariza seems to be impressing management.

i'd sign Woods if we could unload Moochie somehow...Penny could be converted to the primary backup at PG & you could have Woods backing up Crawford while Houston is recovering.

C - Nazr / Baker
PF - Sweetney / KT / JYD
SF - TT / Ariza
SG - Crawford / Woods
PG - Marbury / Penny / Bremer
IR - Houston / Shandon / Bateer or Sundov

but using that same logic, i still can't figure out why DerMarr Johnson wouldn't be a better option instead, especially since he's already familiar w/the coaching staff & teammates here, & he's well liked & has a good attitude.

Is Woods a better defender than DerMarr?

i have no idea what kind of defender Qyntell is actually...i've rarely seen him play any meaningful minutes to judge that...DJ is weak defensively, but i thought he had a nice jumpshot & was aggressive going to the rim on offense, which i liked...plus, i thought his length bothered some players last year when he was guarding them, usually the slower footed spot up shooters who DJ could stay with.

he's tougher and bigger then demarr +30 pounds. Evidently he was playing as well as anyone on the Portland roster so far this season and his teammattes are peod because they are thin at 2. Yes, we need insurance at 2 and it would be seet to pair Ariza with woods on the bench as guys who can come in at an athletic 6-8 and 6-9 at 2-3.

Who the heck is saying trade ariza already--is it the same fool who was asking to trade Sweetney 90 times last year? keep Ariza + add woods and you are now looking at
the back end of a core which can high rotation players or even starters over the next 1-2 years. thats how you keep a team going good. forget having ming bateer as a 15th man--its a waste.

RIP Crushalot😞

I say make a move for more talent or potential talent, I mean take the chance, if woods turns out to be close to the player that people think he can be, and Ariza does the same, then great, keep ariza, and trade woods,I am sure if he turns into the player he can be his stock will be high, this will be a great opportunity to package him along with a bum contract like shandon to a team needing a young stud SF, and get cap relief and a pick back.... I mean it opens up possible options..
