![]() 5-15 after 20 is very pessamistic. That would make them a 20 win team, or as bad as Orlando was last year. The Knicks are going to have a tough schedule, but if they're a .500 team, going 5-15 (or worse) is only a 7% probability.
However if they're that bad, the East/Atlantic is still soft enough to win. Consider they would only have to be 36-26 (.580) the rest of the way to end up .500. They might be able to sneak into the playoffs with a sub-.500 record as well, and only have to go let's say 33-29 (53%). I wrote this about their marshmellow schedule at the end of the year http://www.knickerblogger.net/2004/11/10-10-optimism.htm: In April they face only 5 playoff teams out of their last 12 games, and none in their last 6. Two of those games are against the gutted New Jersey Nets, so in theory they could win 8 of their last 12. http://www.knickerblogger.net
